In the classic AD&D module from 1979 “The Village of Hommlet,” there are many lodgers at the Welcome Wench: Ostler Gundigoot and his family of course; Zert, Furnok of Ferd, Kobert and Turuko. But surely the mostly vexing – at least from a pronunciation standpoint – is the enigmatic Spugnoir, he of the equally enigmatic “Room 5:”
When I first played this, my DM referred to Spugnoir thusly:
Which, frankly, felt a little…. libertinous, but now as a DM, I understand. I polled the collective and everyone had different ways of pronouncing this NPCs name:

Was there a verdict? Of course not – after 41 years, everyone will still continue to pronounce Spugnoir any which way they like.
