I see a still life for Matt on there. >> I'm sorry. >> I see a still life of Matt on there. >> Yeah, Matt has joined us again tonight. Welcome, Matt. He's put a few messages in the chat. >> Um, >> so uh uh it's Yeah, he he's uh he's joined us. So, welcome Matt. He's going to hang out with us tonight. >> Um and uh and there's that. Did everybody uh uh outside of me, did everybody have a decent weekend? >> Mhm. >> Good. Anybody do anything fun? >> No, just snow. Just >> I went I went to the show of shows and then my unit meeting yesterday in in uh Louisville. >> Oh, nice. Okay. Very cool. So, you were sort of down in the same direction I was yesterday. >> Yeah. Yeah. A lot of 64. So, you saw those snow flurries coming back. I'm guessing >> we did. Yeah. It wasn't too bad, though. So, um yeah, we didn't we were worried about that weather, especially once we once we passed Nashville. Uh, it did start snowing a little bit. It got a little slippery by the time we got to the hotel, but um, it wasn't bad. So, um, >> but so by show of shows, you meant like the Lmania film. >> No, no, this is a big big big military show. >> Okay. >> They got like 2,000 tables. >> Wow. Okay. Dang. Where was that? That was in Louisville. >> Yeah. Yeah, I was at the Kentucky Expo Center. >> Very nice. They have it have it uh uh usually this time a year, one once a year. It's a huge thing. And then we have our reenacting uh meeting on that Saturday. Uh since we're a 501c, we have to have a a meeting because we're we're nonforprofit if if if you know people want to do that. So we got board of directors and >> Gotcha. Okay. >> Got to do all that legal ease crud. >> Glenn, how about you? You're suspiciously quiet over there. You probably had some crazy weekend going on. >> No. No. Well, we had we had I mean for us it was big snow. We had like almost a foot of snow. All combination of snow and ice. And it's actually like a glacier >> on top because it was snow and then we got like three inches of sleep and it it's been like in the 20s like the high of 25 kind of thing. >> So you're like I'm not going anywhere. >> No, I'm not going anywhere. I mean, I I did the sidewalks. We're on a quarter, so it was really something. >> Okay. >> Uh we have um the way the houses in our neighborhood are, the the garage is in the back and there's like an alley and so I did the sort of like it's not really a driveway, but like between like >> where you need to invest into a flamethrower. Yeah. >> Crazy on yourself. >> Yeah. That's on the north side. So like like the sun isn't there's no sun to even melt it. So that that's going to be >> I knocked it down to like it's only two inches thick. So So I can drive over it if I had to. >> Yeah. Well, ice is no good. Ice is >> No, it sucks. >> You know, and Memphis dodged their 21 inches. Jim was afraid they were going to get, >> but we ended up >> in Memphis. >> Yeah. We ended up >> get snow. We had like three inches of snow, then an inch of ice, and then three to four more inches of snow. >> Oh wow. >> So, uh the only Memphis has maybe one to three snow plows >> and they don't do ice. They only do uh >> salt. >> Don't do salt. They only do sand. And only even now the only thing that's been cleaned is the main roads. All the side roads are still [ __ ] Wow. >> And have you also been below freezing? >> Oh, yeah. It only only today has it gotten back above uh freezing. It was uh >> probably in the 20s. It hovered in the 20s and down into the uh >> teens most of the time. >> That's what it's been here. >> As I say, Les and I are going to see uh it's going on to like 14 days that it's been below freezing. Yeah, we still have >> in single digits. >> Beautiful. >> This week it's supposed to supposed to actually go over freezing a couple of days. >> Is it? I didn't I hadn't heard that. >> Tomorrow I think we're supposed to be up to like 34. Woohoo. 34. >> There you go. >> Like >> I thought there was another sunshine and that feels good. >> Yeah. >> I thought there was I thought there was another storm coming too. >> Yeah, we got a possible two two other things, but I think that's going to >> pass. There is. But, you know, it's also weird because I think it's south of here that's the Caroliners are going to get hit. They said >> Oh, they already are. >> Oh, are they? Okay. >> Yeah. >> They said it was colder in Florida today than it is in Juno, Alaska. >> Yeah, it was it was 22 in like in Fort Meyer, Florida. Can you imagine that? >> It was like 33 in Juno. >> It's insane. >> Craziness. >> So, >> yeah, we got pristine white snow last last Saturday. So, it was like just 10 inches of pristine white snow that immediately froze with rain on top of it and then it stayed like that for a week and now it's been under over freezing the whole under freezing the whole time and now it's gray white snow, you know. >> Yeah. >> It's not not as pretty as it once was. >> Les, have you heard from Eric or uh Dan? >> Uh Eric said he was going to be a little late. Dan said he wasn't going to he was sick and was not going to be able to make it today. You know, those Floridaidians, they uh you know those guys who live in the south uh they're they're fragile. You know, it gets a little cold. You know, you know, they >> cold and boop, they're inside. >> Yeah, they're done. Yeah. >> He was hit by an iguana and the frozen iguana hit him in the head. >> Yeah. There you go. Yeah. All the iguanas are dropping out of the trees. >> Speaking of guys from the south, Chuck has joined us tonight. Welcome, Chuck. Good to see you. >> Chuck, I'm just watching. Well, welcome. Welcome. We're glad you're here. Uh, all right. So, let's talk about So, >> for all of you, for all of you bitching about how fragile the Southerners are, you're welcome to come visit when it's 100 for a month straight. >> Yeah. No kidding. >> No way. >> So, I can watch you burst into flames and laugh. >> I spent four days in Galveastston in July. I'm good forever going back there. >> I I get that every day I walk into the shop, Chuck. Hardest hardest year I ever had was it was the weekend I spent in Phoenix. >> Yeah, but it's a dry heat. >> Yeah, that's what they tell you. So is the inside of my oven, but I'm not going to that shitty. >> So, >> so, all right. So, let's talk a little uh Dungeons and Dragons here. So, last time uh we played uh which was just last Sunday, by the way. um last time we played uh you guys uh had finished off uh uh uh or finished what was going on in the in the Durst mansion and what a weird ending that was. The um you had found a a uh vampire spawn who had been chained down there uh you know as as a punishment by Strod apparently for some sort of unnamed undescribed uh failure on his part. um that he and you guys you guys slew him and then these like black robed you then it was like it was like the house began talking to you. Uh yes it was. Uh so the house began talking to you. It was like one must die. One must die. It was like the house needed a sacrifice before it would let you out. But you were like screw that. you scooted up that uh uh that that ladder and got yourselves outside of the house uh before things uh before the house cuz it was shaking, glass was breaking, all this kind of stuff was going on and uh and you guys managed to get out very quickly uh and avoid whatever problems uh may have occurred from you staying in the in the dank dungeons of the Durst Mansion. Gwen, question. Where's the first mansion >> on the map? >> No, there was there was no child. >> It's in Block. It's in this in the town of Baki. >> Yeah, sorry. That was the day I was shoveling. I shoveled so much. Hours and hours of shoveling. And I was like, but it's like when you sit down, it's just deadly. And I was like I was like because I'm an hour different from you. >> So like your 8:00 is my nine o'clock. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> I was like I was okay at seven. I was really tired at 8. I was falling asleep by 8:30. So, I was just like I put a little note in the text. I hope you saw it. >> We did. We did. So, we saw that you were online and it was like there was like a little thing in the chat box. It's like look, I got guys I I just can't I got I gotta go. >> That was >> This campaign is too boring. It was so much snow. I was like maniac because I was so afraid of it like congealing into like an iceberg. It did. But >> it did. >> Yeah. Okay. Anyway, sorry. >> Yeah. >> Anyway, this is a map of Aki. Uh the town in which you are in. It is a walled of sorts city. Uh you guys are staying. This is the the place where you guys stay at the Blue Water Inn. It's where you have lodgings right now. Uh this is the Durst Mansion, the Haunted House. um you know where >> where is Vasha Desky's house? >> So his place is like or whatever. >> Well, he's a constable. He's not the sheriff. He's just a constable. Uh but his house is over here. >> Let me It wasn't too far from the haunted house. >> It was not too far. No. Uh in fact, he he told he mentioned to you that he had seen you guys. His house is right here. >> Okay. Let me uh >> farther than I thought. >> Well, it's only just down the street. So, the carriage was parked uh here. Let me do this. >> Okay. So, the carriage So, so that was after you guys came out, there was like this carriage uh outside. So, uh and it was at like this crossroads. So, when remember when you guys saw the um uh like the uh what's the word I'm looking for? Like the two robed figures? >> Yeah. That was like right here. >> Was like down the street. So, it was like right right about there. >> Oh, okay. What is What is this big house behind the death house? >> That is an estate. That might be Lady uh Var's estate. The Var house. But it might not be. I have to check. I think maybe this is Var House down here. Uh I'd have to check to make. >> No, no, no problem. No problem. I don't have to worry about it. Yeah. >> Yeah. So the h that so that white that first white square that was where you saw the thing the the uh the other side of that is the the carriage was parked like right here outside just right outside the thing. So the the entrance to the to the house is like right about here. You guys came out and the carriage was right there. And so the constable saw he had been watching. You could see there's like a pretty much a direct line of sight. Uh, from the console's house to Hold on. >> Unless this is where we were at. >> Oh [ __ ] No, I'm sorry. >> That's the haunted house. >> All right, never mind. I was What am I I was looking at this wrong. >> That's the inn where you're at, >> right? Sorry. >> Not our inn, is it? >> No, that's the Blackwater in. So in >> the guys were here. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And the carriage was parked right here. >> I'm sorry. You're right. His house is This isn't where his house is. His house is right here. Well, sorry I got that wrong. It's like that one right there. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, yeah. So, he he basically he had mentioned to you that he'd seen you guys go in uh was worried uh well, at first it he'd assumed that you guys maybe were with the Renfields or something like that. And but uh you know, he had seen that Shut up there. Uh um we had seen he he had seen the uh the guys the black cloak guys watching your the house. Uh remember he had said there were some in the back there were some you know kind of watching the house. So he he came quickly fairly quickly to the um to the idea that you guys weren't with them because why would they watch their own guys go into their own their own hideout. Um he says you guys were in there for a long time. Then he saw he didn't wait let me rephrase he did not see the carriage appear or get brought there. All he saw was like one minute was he was it wasn't there and the next minute it was there. He didn't he didn't see it arrive but he's like okay. Then he saw you guys come out and he was like okay uh wonder what's going on there. And then you got into the he got into the carriage and that's when he said, "You know what? I've got to get out there and help these guys because I'm worried that they're going to get, you know, attacked or something like that." And that's when he came and sort of came out and was like, you know, cuz you remember you guys were in the carriage when he knocked on he knocked on the carriage door uh to he was like, "Out of there, you know, that kind of >> it was all the thief who talked us into it." >> Yep. He definitely did. So yeah. So you guys So you guys got through death house and then you uh um uh came out and there was this this ornate carriage waiting for you guys outside and uh you guys stepped into that carriage and it was empty and what further there was no reasonable means of idea of it. You know how it got there. There were no horses attached to it. >> Yeah. No locomotion. >> It was nothing there. It was just a carriage. So, you got in there and there was like wine waiting, glasses waiting, and a note to you guys uh laying on the on the on the table inside the carriage. And uh if you recall correctly, uh you know, this was the note. Uh you know, you may have entered my land as thieves, but you survived so far as professionals. Perhaps now you'll entertain me as my guests. Silver is a dangerous thing in Bovia, but so are the creatures who control its availability and use. who came here as smugglers to threaten that threaten the order I have imposed upon this place. Come, let us speak like civilized entities. You may yet prove useful. Let this carriage bring you to my castle. Speak and it shall be so. Um, and then you were like, well, I don't know that we want to go see uh Count Stra just this second at second level. So, um, you didn't uh you decided not to go there. Uh, and that's when you heard Dasha, uh, uh, Constable Dasha knocking on the on the carriage. You guys went with him to his house and basically, um, you know, he was like, you know, I was worried that the the Renfields were going to get you. Um, and then you started talking about some of the things that you had seen and that, you know, and he's like, oh yeah, let's let me get out a map. And so this is the map of Bovia that he brought out and was basically like, "Okay, you guys are here, uh, in Aki." Uh, and you know, uh, you guys brought out all of the different, um, you know, all the different, uh, >> the deeds and stuff for like the mill and the h turning over the house to his, >> right? You showed him all that stuff and and some of it he was ignorant of. He's like, I didn't know any of this. He's like he So he talked to you about a couple of things. One was you asked him about the mill. Uh and he's like, "Oh yeah, the Durst's mill." Because you had showed him the document that showed the parents uh sort of giving title and deed of the mill over to the children. Um he was like they all disappeared all at once. It's like one night uh they disappeared. And he he says, "I don't think anybody's ever used that mill since." um you know with you know from he he he immediately falls back into this sort of that constable state of mind. He was like you know the legal ownership of that mill would probably be contested you know that kind of thing. Um but yeah he he he didn't know who owned that mill and uh was almost 100% certain that in the 15 intervening years since the dursts disappeared no grain has been mil. So, um, he just doesn't think it's been, uh, used at all. >> Well, and he was alarmed to find out that we found the bodies of the Dursts. >> He was alarmed to find out that. That was Yeah. He's like, we So, he basically what he said was, "We assumed that either the the count's men or the count himself had taken them away." Um, there was all, he says, like I was, I was a constable back then when it happened. And he says like there was always talk of the Dursts, right? They were minor nobility b you know wealthy burgers basically um you know sort of uh in town and you know there was always rumors of this and that kind of going on at the Durst mansion but it was never it was never anything that we were ever called to investigate or anything like that. um when they disappear uh and sometimes people are taken away by uh the count's men um and they never come back. Sometimes people are taken away to the castle and they never come back. You know, uh he went away he he was taken to the castle is sometimes used as a euphemism for that person died. uh you know that kind of thing. What he could tell you is like any anybody who's been who has disappeared or has been taken into custody by the count's men, they never come back. >> Once they're gone, they're gone. >> So with the deed and a Kudagawa, he could be Thorn. >> Yeah. >> And we could get the mill over. >> That's right. >> Give him a little mustache or something. Yeah. Um possible. Um so that was so that was what he was talking about. the um you know that I think he showed him some of the other documents and he did know I forget what he said about that one guy he said that that guy he hadn't seen for a while either the guy who supposedly owned the mansion >> um you know that the count that the that the count had sort of given the mansion to as a or was he in the building when you guys did you guys kill it >> uh no that was Radu was the was the vampire spawn in the basement >> uh what was his name >> uh it's on that um it's on that um >> it's on one of the deeds. >> Yeah, I don't think I don't think we came across him. If we did, I don't recall. >> No, I don't remember. But we uh we did find that uh he gave it >> gave property to them. >> Yeah. My dear servant uh Alco Alco Dober uh since the Durst family has abandoned this house with no living heirs. The property has been reclaimed by my estate. Enclosed. You will find the deed to the house, I'm sure you will agree, is not only full payment for your services, but also a deserving reward for your good deeds and charity to my beloved Bovian people in the church. Such a grand house, once renovated, will certainly make you the envy of the aristocracy. So on and so forth. Um, no date on that. >> Yeah, he he didn't know who that guy was. >> What does Dasha say about this like encampment spot uh south of Alaki? So that is well let's just let's let's go to the notes and see what he says. Um all right so what he says oh he's like yeah so that's traditionally a what he calls a Vistani camp. That's not a word you've heard anybody use uh before. Uh the Vistani are sort of like so the way he he gets this kind of look on his face when he when he when you ask him about that. He's like oh yeah that's a that's that's the that's a traditional Vistani camp. The and the the vibe you get is that he doesn't like the Vistani. Uh he says the Vistani, he says they're not friendly and they're definitely not welcome here in Valaki. They're mostly uh they're thieves and you know they they steal things. They they they move around the map. They camp in various places. Um you know they just they they leave a huge mess and then they move on to another place. While if they come in if >> gypsies >> Yeah. kind of well yeah kind of like gypsies. Um they they look like share >> is that here? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that's here. Uh >> little bit. >> Yeah, let me >> Yeah, that Yeah, >> I will show you. Yeah, so this little fella right here. I am not on the right thing. Hold on. Uh hold on. >> Looks like there's a pathway here. Well, we probably once once daylight comes and we leave the constable's place, we probably should go see um >> Yeah. to find out what's the story because she knew that girl's name. And did the ghosts ever come back? The children? >> No. No, we never saw the children again. And we definitely didn't find a little girl. So, you did talk with uh you did talk with um >> the constable said that she was in town, >> not as a little girl though, but as an adult. >> Yeah. About two weeks ago. So, he'll he'll tell you that. Yeah. He he knows Arena. Arena. Um her full her full name is uh Arena Kolana. Uh and uh she's from uh the she's she's originally from Bovia uh village of Bovia. Um you know he's he's like she's a young he's like she's not a little girl. She's a young she's a young woman. Uh probably he he wouldn't speculate. He's like I don't know her personally but um you know she's probably 20 between 25 and 29 years old. Well, that, you know, with with the um Durst family being >> not seen for 15 years, I think you said that kind of ties in with the kids 15 years ago, >> right? So, yeah, if the if 15 years ago, she would have been if she's 25, she would have been 10 years old. Between 10 and 15 years old, 10 and 14 years old, which seems like based on what the ghosts told you, maybe that she Yeah, she said the girl would be in danger. she was downstairs, which is so it's kind of a weird thing because you you're basically having a ghost tell you to save a young woman or a girl from down in the basement and when you come out you learn that that girl is a is a is a woman, a grown woman who's very much alive. >> So, um, >> somebody else saved her. Maybe she was >> or she got out on her own. >> Right. Right. So, wait. So, wait. Unless you you need to show Gwen the picture of the baby. >> Okay, hold on. I'm trying to get >> the second baby that we fought >> you. You fought >> the the glimmering mouther baby. >> Yeah. >> What? >> It's still an ugly baby. >> It's quite an ugly baby. Hold on. Let me uh Oh, here we go. >> Definitely only a a baby a mother would love. >> Wait, so the house wanted you wanted a sacrifice? Was this at midnight? Uh, we don't know what time. >> We don't know what time it was. >> It was It was dark out. >> Yeah, it was evening. I don't think it was quite quite midnight, though. >> Uh, okay. One second. Let's go back here. >> And that would just give Matt and Chuck a visual, too. >> So, yeah. Here's the here's You guys were uh scued. Wait, is that is that That's not the >> That's the the room above. >> Wrong one. Is it that one? Oh, no. I was in the right one the first time. >> More down. >> Yep. I was in the right one the first time. So, yeah. Here's the baby. Uh, >> see, here you go. >> That's not a baby. >> There it is. That's a little baby. >> That's not a baby. All right. Hold on. Let me get rid of that. Uh, here's the baby. >> Baby vult. >> Is it an altar? >> What is going on? >> I don't know. We're having a hell of a time. Here we go. There's the minute. >> Oh my goodness. >> So, yeah, not >> not pleasant. So, yeah, small and ugly >> and quick. >> And then, uh, you guys killed Radu, uh, who was a vampire spawn in a in a pretty bad way, too. Um, he was not in good shape. He'd been down there for a while. And at first, he assumed that you guys had come down to kill him. Um, but uh uh you know you even though you eventually did kill him, uh that wasn't your initial uh I don't think I don't know that that was your initial idea. So >> he talked us into it. >> Yeah. >> Well, and the baby took a real shine to Kudagawa. >> Well, it was took a shine to everybody. But yeah, so basically he says that camp down there is is a it's it's uh it's about a mile and a half, two miles uh outside of Aki's walls, but Vistani are not allowed in Vaki. So the guards will keep he's like as a constable and you know sometimes I do, you know, guard work. We don't allow Vistani come in here every time they and sometimes they kind of sneak in. He's like, uh, you know, they'll commit petty crimes, pickpocket, they'll, if they get the opportunity, they'll steal stuff from stores. Uh, they especially like to steal horses and things like that, which they'll take with them. It helps them, you know, and they go around in these big wagons. Um, he's just they're just a problem. Um, but you know, nobody there's there's little tribes of them all over the place. He says that that patch there is where uh a fair amount there. It's it's a traditional place where they go. So most Vakians will will uh stay away from there, >> avoid it. >> Except the men come around at night and throw their money down. >> He seems somewhat disgusted by that idea. He's like, I I would He's like, I wouldn't go anywhere near that camp with any with a with any money at all on me. So, um, yeah, he's he's like, you could you could sense the distaste in his voice when he talks about the Vistani. He's like, "They aren't friendly. They're not welcome here. They will they will rob you blind." He's like, "In some cases, we we've uh, you know, we suspect that they've committed crimes, uh, uh, you know, murders even, uh, you know, killed people for money." They He's like, "Your average Vistani will do just about anything for money." >> Yeah. >> Oh, >> yeah. Grandpa saw potions of Dr. Good. And >> the Dyal dance for the money. I know. I know the whole thing. >> So after that, you guys talked about the cards that Madame Eva had shown you and what and and if he knew anything about the uh uh you know about the potential thing. So the first one you showed him was the five of swords uh about uh you know to look looking for the den of wolves in the hills and the treasure belongs to mother knight and this was uh I forget what exactly I think it's the tome of strrod um was the treasure so that was like over here so he said I don't know he goes there he goes there's wolves all over the place you guys will remember from like the blue water in >> uh you know they had skins yeah and pelts so it's >> they hunt wolves a lot around here just because wolves are so dangerous. And he'll go on to say he's like there are places uh that are particularly uh problematic for wolves. And he'll even point them out uh you know on the you know on the map. He'll like be you know this you know you he's like where the road is the the road is dangerous uh because of because of wolf activity. and he's like around here if you're going that way uh you know over by the west gate uh you know on the way to uh on the way to Bovia there's all you know you hear all the all of these places have are places in which wolf attacks have taken people's lives so he he outlined a few of those places along the along the Swalish road um he's like you want to be careful uh you know you know carriage breaks down you don't want to be there after the sun goes down and maybe even sometimes before the sun goes down. Uh he goes there's wolf activity. But the what you're talking about here where he's like uh you know the treasure belongs to mother knight. He says he says you're probably talking about werewolves and those are up in this area here. So he was saying like up in up in this region uh you know in this fich woods and up along these things in the hills. Um he's like look Mother Knight is a is a is sort of like a typical kind of uh name that that he's like first of all you know uh you may or may not know most most werewolf clans werewolf tribes are matriarchal and so a lot of times you know the the leader of the matriarchy of a of a particular clan will be like mother knight or or grandmother tooth or you know um mother moon or something like that, you know, they all had they all take on these things. So, Mother Knight, he could he he goes is probably referring to some clan matriarch, werewolf clan matriarch. Uh but yeah, hills overlooking a lake, you've got Lake Barat. Uh and these hills overlook those that lake. So, it could be up in there. The only other place that he thought, you probably didn't see that. It's a lake bar attack here. There's hills overlooking there. And he goes and I know that there are there are wolves and probably where where wolves are, it's probably werewolves. Uh he say so there's probably stuff over there, but the only other thing only other place that he can think of where there's a there's um hills overlooking a lake would be down to the south at Lake Luna. Uh these hills uh you know, the mountains down here will overlook this lake. So it could be down there that she's referring to, but I mean there could be wolves in there. Aluna Lake isn't known specifically for wolves, but these mountains up here, the Spitch woods, uh yeah, they're filled with wolves. >> So then he was like the four of stars. Uh and you know what? Madame Eva, you you related with Madam Eva. I see a fallen house by a guarded by a great stone dragon. look at the highest peak and he was like a silver dragon. Are you talking about silver dragons? Uh of Lord Arganvost. Uh so and he basically told you a story. He's like when the count drove his enemies into the valley uh and this was ages ago. Uh the last thing that they expected to encounter was there was a silver dragon who named Arganvost who lived in that valley for years. Uh, and there were some who said that he lived there in the guise of a nobleman. Uh, either way, he was the lord of that region. Um, you know, and there was uh, you know, there was he supposedly had like an order of knights that were either called the order of the dragon or the order of the silver dragon, something like that. Um, that were like these knights that were that worked for Lord Arganvost and were, you know, would go through the land writing wrongs and, you know, kniting it up, that kind of thing. You know, there was, you know, he goes, I don't know any of the stories. cuz I'm sure there's stories that you could find out from some people about you know what good deeds they did and [ __ ] like that. Um but um you know they were when when the count first came to Bovia the legend goes uh you know it was Lord Argonost's knights were sort of leaders among the resistance and you know uh um you know uh uh they were like heads of the battles and stuff like that but they were defeated obviously by the count and his forces. Uh and the the the story goes that uh Lord Arganvost converted back into silver dragon form when he was defeated by the count and then he was hacked a bit and and and um been transported to Castle Ravenloft as a trophy. But the place where he where his stronghold was is called Arganvost Halt which is down in the south. It's down here. Are these rivers navigable gold? Can we take boat? >> Sure. There's a lot of boat traffic on these rivers and lakes, >> flatboats, mostly fishermen. But yeah, so he's he's like, you know, if if some if if if Madame EVA and he's familiar with Madame EVA and and uh he's like basically as far as I am aware, Arganost was the only dragon ever to live in Bovia. >> Is Meta Eva considered Vistani? >> Uh I think yes, but I also think she gets a pass. She gets a pass because she's she's lived in Valaki, you know, most of her life. So, but yeah, I think she does come from Vistani Blood now that you mention it. Nobody thinks of her that way though. She's very nice uh when she's not making weird pronouncements. >> We got a lot of options. What's our next play, boys and girls? >> Well, I think uh once we're done here at the constables, we need to go see Madame Eva. >> Yeah. >> See if she maybe see what she says. I think we we are leaning towards investigating the old mill. Does that sound correct? >> If that's I mean we've got the deed. I don't know if that's the next place to go. >> What do these red boxes indicate? Less >> those are those are places where wolf attacks have taken place on the road. It's so he's like there are places on the old road >> where it's dangerous to be after in the evenings because of wolf attacks and things like that. It's not great to have to uh to have lone travelers on the road at night regardless. But in those those particular places through the woods straight, >> you know, >> I'm looking at the old mill, you know, it looks like >> there's a fair amount of activity to the south. You you'll you'll come across. So, south of Aki, outside of the walls, there are farms, homesteads, uh, you know, the wood cutters live out there, um, you know, that kind of stuff. So, it's not it's not I mean, it's not like everywhere is dangerous all the time at night. I mean, most people who live outside of the walls of Aki, um, you know, have, you know, they they lock up their homes at night. A lot of those farmsteads are are little mini fortress fortresses for the families that live there. Um and a lot of times they'll cluster, you know, you'll have two or three >> farms. >> Imagine Yeah. You'll have two or three farms or four farmsteads sort of the houses will be clustered kind of close together. >> Yeah. >> But the farms will go out in different directions, right? The land that they farm will be separated. So, but yeah, nobody but it's it's wise not to be alone in the woods at night. So, >> how long do they say the travel would be if we cut the cut the road to like there? >> Uh, it's a it's a it's a good it's a good half day's walk to the old mill from here. >> Okay. >> Maybe threequarters of a day. >> And I believe the constable was also going to look into >> uh possible >> blacksmith for us. Was that correct? That's right. Yeah. So, you mentioned >> on the low down. >> Yeah. You were going to look for uh because he sort of >> Go ahead. >> We need somebody to alter the the chain mail. >> Chain mail for the barbarian. >> That's right. You got some chain mail, Gwen. >> Yes. I think Did I put it in my inventory? >> It's got to be fixed. >> I don't think you're wearing it, right? >> I'm not wearing it. I'm wearing the scale mail, but I did put it in my inventory so that I would be caring. >> So yeah, we we need to definitely do that. >> Yeah. >> So the other card he talked about was the wizard card, the master of stars. And the what Madame Eva told you was look to the wizard's tower. Look for a wizard's tower on a lake. Let the wizard's name and servant guide you to that which you seek. And he's like, "Wizard's tower?" the he's like he told you a story about a wizard, an arch wizard uh who eventually who worked for the count who eventually made himself into a lich uh and was a legendary experimentter. Uh but he he had built a tower now probably deserted uh certainly no one goes there on Lake Barak. So right here. >> Yeah. Uh it's like a it's like in a weird sort of peninsular island uh that that pokes into Lake Baratak. >> I was going to say if we're going to go see a wizard, we need to go to the one that makes the wines. >> And that's also where we thought there was sills overlooking a lake where uh we might find >> Yeah. And so I mean I think you guys talked about a little bit. Like so if there's a if there's if there's werewolves up in these hills overlooking Lake Barat and you went there to to to this wizard's tower to see if you could find what you you know what you needed. I think it's I think that was the raven thing or something like that. Um you know it might be it might be worth the trip. But yeah, the old meal is about Yeah, I'd say threequarters probably probably like a six to eight hour walk >> through the woods. >> Spending the night out there >> cross country. If you go along the road, it'll take you a day and a half. >> It looks like it's 61.6 ft. >> You just sleep over there. You jump that. >> Um, but yeah. >> Wait. And what was it that we wanted to go to the campsite for? >> No, we didn't. I just I just asked what that campsite was. >> Oh, okay. >> We're just trying to figure trying to anticipate where um Madame Eva might be sending us. >> So, just so you know, I think you guys can write on this map if you want to. This is your map. So, I have other maps if you want if you want to write notes and stuff like that. >> Oh, it looks like the first card was Oh, >> I I can tell you. Hold on. I >> of wolves overlooking. Well, like I say, we need to get that chain mail adjusted >> and then maybe do a little side project with the what little silver we have under the table. >> Okay. >> And then um >> well, the conible was going to check on that, right? >> And then um talk to Maddie Eva and get our introductions with with Mr. Meadow. >> Okay. Uh so yeah, so just I was just looking at the cards. The tome of Strod is the one that says look for a den of wolves over. This is supposed to be a special book that is a particularly uh strong uh kind of powerful against against the count. Uh the holy symbol of raven kind is the next one. The the ejurer which is in the house of the great stolen dragon. This holy symbol is supposed to be the ravens supposedly are um are friends of Strod. So maybe there's a way to command them or but it's supposed to be powerful against Strod as well. Um uh and then there's the the one in the in the wizard of Tower on the lake is the sun sword. It's a sword, a magical sword that um that uh you know sheds light, that kind of thing. Now from the the re arena is uh evil's bride is the one you seek. >> Uh supposedly that's that was theoretically referencing Arena, >> right? So, um, you know, she's supposed to be your your ally, uh, according to Madame Eva in the fight against the count. So, we don't really know her story yet or anything like that. And then the last one was Strod himself. Your enemy is a creature of darkness. Uh, the card will lead you to him. Um, he lurks in the depths of darkness in the one place to which he must return, which you guys interpreted as that you will find him eventually at Castle Ravenloft, which makes sense. >> I'm sorry, >> you said something about a suns sword. >> Yeah, the sun sword. Uh, it is a um, so according to Madame Eva, uh, it tells of a weapon. It's a weapon of vengeance, a sword made of sunlight. >> That's the wizard's tower. And that's at the wizard >> might possibly be there. >> So the holy symbol of raven car uh raven kind is a powerful force for good and protection. A holy symbol of great hope. It is referred to and the tome of strad it's it's she said this this card when she turned the card it tells of history. Uh the knowledge of the ancient one will help you better understand your enemy. >> I don't see the wizard's tongue on the man. Uh, it's not >> where Barak is to the left of Lake Zarovich, John. >> Yes. >> Okay. There's a little peninsula. There's a little tower on that peninsula. >> The den of wolves. >> That's the only Wizards tower that uh uh that um that Dasha can think of. >> Well, and according to DDO, that pans out less. So, you're good. Oh, >> good. Great. Bunch of cheaters. >> All right, off to Madame Evas. >> Well, I think we need to go to the blacksmith first and then >> Well, I thought we'd sent the constable to the blacksmith and we go to Madame Evas. >> Yeah, the constable was cuz you you had mentioned >> he doesn't want us >> following him around to all his sources. >> Well, that's true. >> No, no, but they might want to take measurements. >> Yeah, they're they're going to need they're going to need to Yeah. work on the mail and stuff. So, >> yeah. He's like, "Let me talk to the guy first because you guys wanted to talk." But I mean, if it's just if it's just about the armor, >> um, he's like, "I can, you know, any blacksmith in town will be able to help." >> Yeah, I think we I think we go to the guy he suggests the armor and then maybe uh the manipulation of the silver, but I think we start it with the chain mail to show our good faith kind of thing. >> Yeah. And he said he wants to feel a guy out. like, you know, there's there is danger accused to having a a significant amount of silver. And he's frankly, when you guys show him the silver that you have, um he's frankly shocked at the volume that you have. He's like, "Holy shit." You know, nobody's like, "Nobody has this much silver. Uh certainly not enough to make a weapon out of. Where did you first he's like, "Where did you get this?" He examines the coins. He's like, "These coins aren't from around here." Um no one would take silver and make it into a coin. The only silver he has, you'll remember, is the little thing that he hung on the wall. Uh on the door, I mean, >> the door. Yeah. >> Uh the little charm that he hung on the door. And you He didn't come out and say, "This is silver." Uh but uh the little eyeball inside. How he gets that to stay in there? I >> Yeah, it's weird. I don't know. It's crazy. >> It must be magnetic silver. >> Can I use it as a ninja star? >> I don't know. Yeah. Well, so but he'll tell you. He says, "This came to me from, you know, my parents, my mom. Uh they always hung it on the door at night to protect them from, you know, supposedly it has magical powers that that keep uh you know, the the the count's servants. That's all he really refers to them as. Um is keep them from passing the door. Passing through the door. >> Put it on the inside or where like anybody >> Oh, no. It's on the inside. >> On the inside. So no one can see. >> Yeah. But he says it has power. It's he says none of uh no one has ever uh none of none of the countervants have ever passed my my my doorway. >> So you get the impression he's definitely not uh uh not not a friend of the count of the count. >> He's not a friend of the count. An FOC. Um but yeah, so I mean that's what he'll tell you. He's like, "Look, you know that kind of stuff." So he'll he'll talk to the to the guy um the blacksmith to and sort of feel him out about the idea of silver because frankly if you just walked up to somebody and popped this down on their on their plate and said, "Hey, I have a shitload of silver. Will you make me a sword out of this?" >> Report you. >> They will freak Well, they might report you. Yeah, exactly. And they might they would certainly freak out and maybe report you. You'd have to be the right sort of person. So let me um he goes, "I got a guy in mind. let me talk to him uh and feel him out and if and if it pans out uh and I feel like he's amendable, I'll I'll give him your name and I'll make I'll recommend I'll Yeah, that kind Okay. Well, we could at least ask about the the armor, having it fitted, seeing how long that would take, and we could just sus him out. See Yeah. See See if we like the cut of his jib. >> Yep. So, I mean, do you guys have other questions for him other than other than that kind of stuff? >> No, I think I I think he covered a lot for us. >> He did. Yeah. Uh, so, >> so after I mean ultimately it's it's late at night. Uh, he's tired. Uh, >> well, we had to we had done the uh the thing for my um so it was eight hours through the night for my uh fever. >> You broke the ghoul fever. Yeah, >> he fixed the ghoul fever. That's good. >> Yeah. >> Yep. So they they clicked him out of the bed and uh uh and then you know dawn approaches uh and um Tensson's feeling much better. The fever is obviously broken. the weird smell that he was starting to emanate uh is is not there anymore. >> Zezy. >> Yeah. And >> well, I told you I like to use spices when I cook. >> Well, and you it frankly tens you just feel a lot better. You were starting to get like a metallic taste in your mouth. Your stomach was rumbling like you were hungry, but you didn't really feel like eating. Um you know, it was just you you were just starting to feel a little weird. Uh but now you feel you feel quite a bit better. Um once Dasha wakes up and he's been sleeping through most of this this uh this uh ghoul fever uh getting rid of um you sleep for another hour or two. It's dawn. Uh he gets up uh and begins making uh making tea and you know uh putting together eggs and rashers of bacon um you know enough for everybody fixing breakfast and he's basically just like as you guys get up he basically says look um I'm not going to ask you why you're here and where you came from. Um, I don't I don't want to know. Uh, because I don't want to be in a position to have information about you that I can divulge to the wrong people. >> Oh. >> Um, he Well, I will tell you this. He says, "Obviously, you're new in Aki and you don't know our ways. So, I will tell you this. Um, daytime is absolutely, you guys went into that, you were in that house at night and I was a little worried. Uh, daytime is the best time to operate. uh you know because certain members that number among the count supporters prefer the night. >> Uh it's not to say he doesn't have supporters that like the daytime, >> but there are but there are some of them that much prefer working at night. He sort of raises an eyebrow to see if you uh see if you get, you know, sort of like get that. >> I tell him I I I I'm fine with him knowing what we're doing. We're actually real estate uh uh investors that looking for new opportunities. >> We're real. >> That's why we were looking into speculation. >> We were Yeah, we got in the house and the real estate agent just vanished. We didn't know what the hell we were doing. We figured, you know, the broker just appeared. >> So, he does >> into the basement. That's the last I saw him. >> He He does ask He says like, "Are you guys going to be staying in Aki for the foreseeable future?" >> We're not sure right now. Yes. >> Okay. Fix it up. Flip it. Uh I I'm sure I'm sure there'll be a thousand, you know, a thousand customers like Haunted Mansion, but now it's all better. Uh and its own dungeon and crypt. Hell yes. Hell yes. >> Uh so yeah. So uh he's he sort of laughs. He's like, "Uh, if you're going to if you're going to be in town for for a while, um, you better you better prepare yourself for the festivals." >> What? >> So, he's like, "So, >> well, if there's a bondage festival, we've got a basement. >> That's it. >> Our our dumb Burgermeister, the Baron, the Baron Velakovich, uh, is well, frankly, he's not a brave man. uh in any stretch of the word and um being in a notable being as the you know sort of the burgermeister of the biggest town in Bovia he's obviously had to meet with the count um there are a lot of people basically the scuttlebutt is that um he when he came to power as the burggo meister after his father died um he was invited to castle ravenloft to meet with the count uh he came back from that meeting a changed man. Um he he and he he does almost anything that he thinks will keep the count away from Aki and keep him on the count's good side. I don't know what you know nobody really knows what transpired at the castle and he does has to my knowledge has never spoken about what transpired at the castle but he was a different guy when he came back. Um and so one of the things that he does is we have like festivals uh various kinds of festivals that he that he throws every couple of weeks uh and everybody has to participate and and you know there's a whole thing everybody has to be you know super happy about it. I think he thinks that if everybody in Aki is happy the count will not pay it will will never come here. Uh but yeah, there's a festival the festival there's one festival coming up and he sort of scrambles around on the uh you know on the um you know he's like I think I got one around here somewhere. One of the flyers that they've been hanging up. Um yeah, here's one. Um yeah. Okay. This festival is called the Festival of the Blazing Sun. Isn't that nice? Uh biggest event of the year. Yeah, sure. Until until uh you know a couple of weeks from now that one will be the biggest one. And as you can see, participation is mandatory. So, um, >> are they all solar themed? >> No, sometimes it's like uh I don't know. >> So, is there is there one >> is there a festival of the blazing saddle? >> No, there's not. We had one and everybody ser beans were served to everybody sort of free bean meals, but it was >> a shitload of silver. >> Just let me let me tell you that did not work out the way everybody hoped. But yeah, this one's called the Festival of the Blazing Sun and it's happening. STAS is about three days away. >> So, they're putting up flyers now. Uh, keep a smile. Be prepared to plaster a smile on your face. >> So, we could make it in three day if we wanted to go to the festival, which might be a good way to sort of scope out, you know, the the the people, you know, we to make it to the mill and back, but I don't know that we'd be able to make it to the wizard's tower. And >> uh I wouldn't say the wizard tower might be the place to go just quite yet, but let I'm sure Madam Evil will tell us. >> Okay. >> All right. So, eventually breakfast is served. You guys have a nice breakfast. The tea is excellent. He's like, I got to go to work, so you guys got to go. Uh but um he's like uh you know where I live. You you're welcome here anytime. Uh if you're worried about uh or need protection during the evening. Uh and he as he sort of takes down the medallion and sets it in what is obviously the place where the medallion goes on the shelf. Um you know he's like you know you should be good. But he's like, "If I was you guys, and like I said, I don't know what you're up to and I don't want to know, but if you can do if you can do it in daytime, in daylight, try to do it in daylight." He says it just it cuts out a section of the of some of the count surface. >> So, if one were to travel and be on the road overnight, any advice for how best to stay safe? Well, there's there's a certain safety in numbers, especially if you have enough people that you can stand a watch, build a big fire, uh that kind of thing. Um you can uh you know, you can rent a carriage, a a drawn carriage, a two- horse carriage or uh that kind of stuff. And some of them are pretty staunchly made. You can ask for uh you know, a carriage which will provide some protection both from the from the elements and from and from uh you know, wildlife. Wolves can't you wolves don't have thumbs uh so they won't be able to open the door and a lot of those carriages are lockable from the inside. They have bolts that you can lock the doors uh >> carriages with rich Corinthian leather. >> They all have rich Corinthian leather. We import it from Corinthia. Uh but yeah, so that's if it was me, he's like I don't I don't go outside the walls too often. But if I was, I would want to go in a group or in a in a in a strong carriage. >> Okay. >> You have to keep an eye on your on your horses though. The Vistani, if there's one thing that they love to steal more than anything else, it's horses. >> Steal horses. Okay. And if and if uh if and if you rent a carriage uh with horses and the horses don't first, how do you get a carriage back if you don't have any horses? Yeah. >> Uh if your horses get stolen. And second, if you bring the carriage back without the horses, they're going to they're going to charge you out the yin-yang for those horses. >> Outrageous. >> They will be outrageous prices. >> Okay, so we might as well just flip it. >> It's boss. I mean, if you've got enough >> I still think we should have stole the wheels off the counts carriage. >> You can hear it bumping away. >> Yeah. >> Just dragging along the ground. >> Did we lose Bowman? >> Yeah, he uh something with a cable currently. >> Okay. >> Did he text? >> I text him and ask him. >> Okay. So, any other questions for for the for the guy? >> Yes. We basically have four PC. Matt, is Matt playing? Does he have a PC? >> Uh, not tonight. He doesn't. >> Should we get basically three right now? Maybe before Bowman comes back. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Eric's gonna join us here in a little bit. Yeah. >> We can still do the um >> like I said, we can go to talk to Madame Eva and get that. >> And uh and the blacksmith to to start work on the thing. See, like maybe it would be expensive. Let's go to Blacksmith first and then Eva >> because Blacksmith's dropping something off, right? >> Right. Right. I guess. And also like inquiring like how much it would be to to have it downsized as it were. >> Oh, >> right. >> I see. Said the blind man. >> He picked up his hammer to saw. >> Are you going to go to that one blacksmith that you guys scoped out here? Let me do this. Is this the guy that was recommended by the constable? >> Well, I say let the constable go first. We go to Madame Eva. We can always talk to the console to see if he says it's okay. >> Oh, okay. >> Oh, okay. I have not shown you the black. You guys did pass a blacksmith. Here we go. And he's right there. Can you see him? Oh, >> yeah. >> That's one of several that are that is in the town. You're not sure if it's the one he's referring to, though. Well, I'd rather go to the guy uh that uh even if we don't trust him immediately, like we want to build up some rapport with him before we spring the silver on him, >> I'd rather go go to the guy uh the constable is thinking like recommend. >> Well, let the constable figure out who might deal with the silver and we'll just hang on to that till we have to. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Cool. So, um, hold on. Let me do this real quick. Just marking it up. Uh, so it's Vasha, not Dasha. I don't know why I said Dasha. I'm going to do >> that was his twin brother. >> Twin brother Dasha. Uh, all right. So, yeah. So, you guys eventually uh um take your leave of uh Vasha's house. Um he admonishes you be careful uh you know don't do any don't do anything crazy um you know that kind of stuff and you could he's like come back if you need if you need my help >> if the Blackwater end is open that early in the morning we could get breakfast so we would be coming out of the inn instead of Bosch's house >> yeah it's not too long after dawn even even though you I mean there's not a lot of uh >> preference >> he did make you guys some eggs yeah coffee No, but yeah, exactly. I thought we just had breakfast with excellent tea. >> But what about you said, Les, >> but what about second breakfast? >> All right, let's do that. All right, let's do that. Black water. >> Do the even know about second breakfast? >> We go in there, you have your breakfast beer, and out the door you go. >> Here. >> So, yeah, a little a little tot get you on the road. All right. So, yeah, you come out. It's dawn. Uh, and you know, it's it's a little it's a few minutes after. It's still quite early in the morning, though. Uh, but there are people on the streets. It's frankly, despite the massive amount of stranges that h that occurred last night in the Durst Mansion, the um the streets of the streets of Aki are largely normal, right? Stores are opening, people are wandering around. You hear the call of, you know, a call of various mongers. Uh, war coaster. Um, uh, >> there's Mr. B. >> Uh, there he is. He's back. Um, and as you walk through, you know, you see, uh, thing you pass, as you're walking down to the Blackwater Tavern, uh, you can see the guy sweeping off the step, you know, and that kind of stuff. People people pass you and as you're pass by, you have these weirdly cheerful like somebody admonishes you guys, smile. don't forget to smile as they walk by. And uh another, you know, another group of people are like, "Festival is coming. Isn't that great?" You know, and everybody's everybody's got these like weird smiles when they when they walk, you know, on their faces. So, give everybody give me a quick perception check. >> Do they seem like um like Steepford wives? Like their eyes are dead or >> Well, their eyes aren't dead. I mean, they uh >> rolled into the back of their heads. >> So, Tensson Tensson's worried about something else, but the rest of you kind of I mean, it's definitely forced, right? Uh and as they're walking, unless they're talking to somebody, their faces, you know, their smiles sort of like go back or their faces kind of go back to normal. But whenever two, you see it, you can see it on the street. Whenever two groups pass, they're like, "Festival is coming. Isn't that great?" Yeah. all uh all's well that ends well, you know, that kind of stuff. As you're kind of walking, one of the things that you uh you're kind of walking around and you're heading towards Blackwater and the guy's there uh and he's he's sweeping out and he's like, "Yeah, we just opened. There's a there's a fresh uh fresh barrel of ale tapped if you if you're if you if you need a if you need a a totty before breakfast." >> He's not smiling. He's he seems normal. Well, he seems normal. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, he's like, "Uh, what could I get you? >> I might as well throw a round on there right off the bat." And then >> I I'll I'll buy that keg. >> All right. >> I'll buy that. >> Keg. >> I'll buy that. How much for the keg? I have all this silver. Then just watch everybody freak out. Um, so he says his name is Stal. Uh, and he is not the proprietor. He's the morning guy. The proprietor. Uh, the proprietor is um one moment. >> Where are we? We at the Blackwater. >> At the Black Water. >> Yeah. >> Blue Water is the one where we spent the night the first night, right? Like >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> But we thought since it's so close to Voses, we'd go into the Blackwater right off the bat to be coming out of there necessarily. >> Close the Vashes. Yeah. Instead of his house, >> right? Right. That protects him a little bit. >> So, you learn you learn sort of obliquely that is the morning guy, right? He's the he's the opener. Uh but the guy who owns it is is um Sarin is his name. S uh Duskfall. And uh and that is >> named after the poison gas. >> Uh no, an E. Two E. Not not Sarin poison gas. So the the Blackwater uh tavern every I remember you guys made a joke like every tavern in this town is named after some sort of body of water. Um the Blackwater is actually his name is Duskfall the owners and he then and the basically the story is that his last name um refers to the place where his family is originally from uh and it's a waterfall uh and um the water uh has a dark the legend is the water has a very dark quality. It seems almost black when you look at it from afar. Uh although Russia, according to the rumors, it's regular water. It just looks black from when you look at it from a distance. >> We know he's a doobie brother. >> He's a doobie brother. Uh they don't sell dubbies here. You could get those at the blue water in. That's where all those that's where all those 420 skanks go, you know. Um but uh basically that's the that's why the tavern is named uh is named the Blackwater because of boss anyway. But he's he's like, "But that's the boss. I'm Thric lines them up for you." You know, that kind of thing. Um there's a couple Yeah. As you guys are sitting there, a couple people kind of wander in one guy one guy says to uh says to Thalic, um hey, why? Hey, Thoric, why don't you smile more? And Thor's like, SCREW YOU. I'M NOT I'M NOT SMILING just cuz the Burgermeister says I have to screw that. Uh he's like, well, you're not going to be you're not going to be good for the f for the festival. And they're like, it's obviously they're teasing him about it. Um but uh uh but yeah, he's he's basically, you know, not doing that. But yeah, there's a couple, you know, there's probably another four to six people that sort of wander in during the time you guys are at the table where you guys are sitting uh and just hanging out. It seems they seem fine. Uh you know, business is kind of business and they're you know, he's doing that stuff. Finally, uh you know, so an older guy shows up. He's obviously the cook. Equally more obviously, he's late. So, Thorick says, "You get back there and start cooking. We got customers." Uh, you know, that kind of thing. And so, uh, you know, but it's just like a regular, you know, it's it's not as nice as the Blue Water in, but it's it's it's convivial. >> Okay. Can we ask Did you say his name was Thor? >> Thal. >> Thal. Can we ask him like can he recommend a blacksmith? You know, I've got this chain mail. It doesn't fit quite right. Maybe >> Oh, okay. Thinking about thinking about joining the guard. Are you little lady? Well, uh yeah. Um absolutely. Uh so he goes, you know who you want to talk to? Uh for someone of your size. I think probably the best guy to talk to would probably be Vlad Morvane. He's he he's one of your countrymen. Um, and uh, and I bet he knows his way around. And uh, he's a he's a great uh a great uh, uh, >> a great blacksmith. Um, he made uh, he he made me uh, some arrowheads not too long ago when I was going off for a for on a wolf hunt with some of my uh, cousins. >> Oh, >> where where would I find him? >> Vladex place is not is a little off the beaten path. So, uh, he's got a place out by the church, uh, the the church of the morning, sorry, it's St. Andrews. It's way back out that way here. Let me show you. He's got a little house and he's got a little, uh, a little place nearby, right next to the house where, uh, he and his son um, you know, sort of, uh, uh, you know, they >> And what was his name, Lo? I'm sorry. >> Vlad. Vlad Morvane. So, that's where his place is. is right there. So, the his house is in the back uh sort of in the back and then the shop is over here. He's right down from the from St. Andrews. >> Okay. We'll go have a talk. I mean, he might be the best person. >> Yeah, he's he does great work and he's he's uh one of your countrymen. So, uh >> I was going to say if he's >> one of your kins >> Yeah. >> Yeah. He's he he basically you get the weird impression that they may not know the word for dwarf here, but he definitely so Thal basically says is he's he's one of your people, >> one of the height challenged. >> Yeah, shorties. >> So, but yeah, so that's that's who he recommends. says, "But I, you know, I he goes, I don't have much call for blacksmithing unless I need some unless unless uh you know, the cook needs it needs needs a new knife or a pan and uh and I need or I need arrowheads to go hunt wolves, but um but beyond that, uh that's he's the guy I go to." >> Oh, hunting wolves. Where's the best place for that? >> Boy, you can't hardly go wrong hunting wolves around here. So, you know, there the reality is he'll tell you. He says like everything that's not lake uh lake Zarovich uh you you could you could put a you could put an arrow on a wolf any anywhere south of here. Um you know various kinds of things. Let's let's go back. He the barman goes let's go back to that map that you guys were looking at with with Vasha. Uh >> and that's like asking somebody in Florida if the waters got alligators. >> Right. Exactly. So he's like these woods to the south of us are full the south and east are full of wolves. We'll go we we me and my cousins we like to go east um in between the road and lake Zarovich. Uh that's where we like to hunt. We'll we'll and we'll you know sometimes we'll get out there two or three days. We'll go uh you know a little bit around the lake uh you know and check those out. It's really you know you can there's some really good hunting down there. A lot of people like to go south. There's wolves down there but I find I think the hunting is better to the east personally. >> That's good to know. Yeah. Yeah. Might be nice to get out there and do a little hunting before the festival. >> Oh, yes. I think that would be Yeah. Oh, I you know, we just went a couple So, we're gonna be We just went a couple of days ago, got two nice wolves uh and burnt up a den. So, um you know, to keep uh to keep other wolves from taking it up. So, it was a successful hunt. My uh my uh my cousin is uh getting the pelts done. Uh he's going to he's going to make a blanket for his child out of it, so it'll be nice and warm. >> Nice. So sweet. And uh where do where's the best place to get the pelts taken care of? >> So, there's a couple of uh there's a couple of tanners in town that'll do it. Uh um you know, probably my favorite or at least my cousin's favorite. I don't I don't deal with all that kind of stuff. Uh is um one second, let me look through my phone book of Bovian names. Uh so that would be Vzna Radic. Uh would be my recommendation and he is is let me get over my the wrong thing. No, I'm good. So Vzna is over here and we'll just He lives and works here. So down in uh south now I'll uh I'll I'll tell you there's a couple of different tanners that work down there and there's a reason why they live down in the south of the of the uh of the city is because sometimes the stink down there is rough. Uh those did you guys know that they use pee to tan those hides? That's crazy. He's always coming around trying to get people to pee in a bucket for him. Um >> he's you can hear him. >> I need some dwarf pee. I say >> some dwarf. I say tenins and we need to go down there. I think ours will be industrial or you know what you know what they say orc peace steams in the summertime. >> That's it. >> So but yeah is the guy I would go to. >> Needs to be written down bus. >> He thinks or peace be steams in the summertime. >> Yeah. I think you need to put yourself on that one. >> That's a good one for tiny Batman. >> That' make a dynamite shirt. Um, but he's like he's like, "I don't I don't handle that kind of stuff. I just give the pelts to my brother. He handles it." But that's the I think I'm I'm pretty sure that's the guy he goes to down there. >> There's a couple other tanners that are parked right around that that that bottom of the area there. Uh they park them all in the same place because of the because of the stench. They don't want to funkify the whole town. >> Yeah. So that would wouldn't be very nice, but Okay. >> Okay. >> He had your drink is not pee. So they claim. Uh anyway, yeah. But uh so do you guys want anything to eat or anything like that? >> Nah, we're fine. Thank you. >> Okay. All right. >> We're just drinking this morning. >> Yeah. He's slide up. And the ale is is it's good. Uh it's fairly low alcohol. This is definitely breakfast ale. >> Yeah. Beer. >> Yeah. So it's it's low alcohol. It's you know for for uh for thirsty haunted house uh guys. Uh it's a uh you know it's a refreshing it's a Eddie Light. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Once we're done with him, we'll head off to Madame Eva's house. >> Okay. So, you head you head down south to Madam Eva. As you pass through this sort of like little town square here, you see a couple of things. So, the first thing you notice is that near the center of the square is a a large stocks and there's somebody in it. Uh, so you could see there's a guy looks like an older dude. He's in the stocks. Uh, you know, kind of like you could see him. Um, uh, you could sort of see him from a distance. You also see there's a variety of people kind of wandering around and that stuff, but um, two two there there's two constables who are uh, sort of standing around. They're a little bit away from the the stock sky. Uh, and they're um, and they're they're uh, uh, they're looking on the ground. One of them picks up. It's like it looks like a torn large torn piece of paper. >> Uh, and they're picking it up and they're you can see them talking to each other. As you uh continue to walk um southward uh towards Madame Eva's, you eventually get the um you catch their eye uh and you know there's other there's other kind of other people around, but they they you catch the conal's eye and they come uh walking over to you and they're like, "Oh, wait a second. We have a question for you. Eric, welcome. >> Greetings. >> Greetings. >> Can you hear me? >> Glad to have you back. >> Hey, Eric. >> Can you hear me? >> Yep. >> Just Just in time. >> How's the sink? >> I'm glad to be here. >> Sorry I'm so late. Good to see you all. >> How's the sink? >> Uh, the I I I I got that done. It's great. >> Oh, good. Awesome. Very good. >> All right. These con these constables kind of roll up to you and they have these goofy smiles plastered on their faces which you suspect are not um not their normal thing. They're like, "Hello, good morning. It's a beautiful morning, isn't it? Uh can you stop for a second? We have a few questions for you." >> So you stop over there and uh they're like uh tell me something. Uh uh you have you seen anybody vandalizing the posters? And they pull out. So this is it's like a poster that they're throwing out. It's been torn in half and you get another look at it and uh and frankly you're like uh it's also been uh graffitied. Um hold on a second and I'll show you what I mean. >> He was such a terrible >> Is it written in goblin? >> Oh. >> So uh uh so it's torn in half and it's a it's a poster for the festival of the Blazing Sun thing that's coming up this weekend. Uh come one, come all. Greatest celebration. The festival of Blazing Sun. All will be well. Attendance and children required rain or shine uh by Order of the Baron. And it's got scribbled on it in like this red ink. Lies, lies, lies, that kind of thing. And it's torn in half. He's like, "Did you guys happen to see anybody or have you seen anybody, you know, molesting the posters?" >> Posting less would do such a thing. That's terrible. >> Terrible. >> It is, isn't it? And this festival is going to be so much fun. Everybody's going to come to it and all will be well. >> How can we help? >> Absolutely. >> I hear there are some subversives that go by the name of Big Grapefruit that you might want to look into. >> We've heard of those guys. >> We're on the lookout. >> Festival of the Blazing Sun. >> Uh Festival of the Blazing Sun. Yeah. So they basically are like, "Well, uh, if you happen to see anybody, uh, writing on the posters or taking on the posters, uh, taking down the posters or tearing them up, well, you just tell us. Would you We would We would We would really like to like to put a stop to it." >> Give them what? >> Where's your headquarters? So we know where to find you if we find this >> headquarters. Oh, yeah. Headquarters. Well, there's little uh uh So there's little stations, but uh the main place is over here. You're going to make me go to this map again. Would you like to depatize one of us? >> One guy is really creepy looking. I There's something about his eyebrows that are not right. >> Can we get a Kuda to bump into him and take his badge off so we can >> I'm trying to get >> All right. So, real quick, I'll do this. Uh so uh they said we got various substations around town, but the main one in Balaki is right there. It's Constable HQ as you can see right in the >> Constable HQ >> is right there. That's where we uh that's where we have our like two jail cells that we have in the in the whole building. But yeah, there are various kinds of things there. You know, our our spot and he points across to the you know, there's like a little office looking building. not an office building, but you know, like a little building that you can see another constable kind of coming out range, you know, he's making sure his thing and he puts a big smile on his face as he walks by. You know, you coming out of there, that's where that's where we hang out down here. Uh, you know, that kind of stuff. >> But if you happen to see anybody, just let us know, okay, >> all will be well. >> And they and they walk off. >> Have a good night. >> Blazing. If I don't see you, good night. >> Wow. Uh, all right. So, they they go on, they sort of like look back and you see them talking, but they go back to sort of like fiddling and they're trying to figure out some sort of medieval scotch tape thing that they're trying to work. It's not working. Uh, you know, and finally they just sort of fold it up and they're like, "We have to get you could you could almost hear him going like we have to get another one." You know, that kind of thing. He's like um but yeah the people same thing's happening on the square is that as people you know people look normal and then they walk they pass you and if they if it becomes obvious that they're looking at you and you're looking at them big smiles all will be well >> festival's coming. >> Wow. And then then they go back to normal afterwards. >> Except for as you continue to walk south and I >> the guy in the dock is uh doing the same thing. >> He is definitely not. Um he's not he's not smiling. Uh so he is sort of like hanging there and uh he's not smiling. He's not happy at all. In fact, if anything, he doesn't look like he's in pain or anything. Yeah, that's a weird thing, isn't it? Um, >> I was going to ask what kind of work he did. What What would that >> somebody Maybe he works in a pedicure shop. That's >> No, he if you if you stop by and talk to him like he does look like look like the uh most interesting man in the world guy. >> A little. Yeah, it's like I don't always get in the stocks, but when I do, I bring half a boot. >> Modella. >> Um hands that pull right out. >> Yeah, he knows. I mean, there's limit to what I can do with these with these. >> Yeah, I'm sort of I'm sort of hamstrung uh by what the output of the image generation machine. >> I I do like the uh centaur poop around the grounds though. That's >> fair amount of poop. Yeah. So, yeah. I mean, so if you go by him, he's like uh he's like nothing will be well. All there all will not be well in this town. Bunch of crap is what it is. as he stands there. >> What's a what's a little insignia on his shirt about? >> Yeah. >> Well, it looks like a little uh It looks like the insignia of a little tool. Um does anybody have knowledge skills? >> I don't think I can zoom in enough to >> like a multi-tool. >> Yeah, kind of a little bit. >> Multi-tool. >> There's a guy that has a multi-tool as a favorite weapon. Give me uh everybody give me if you've got if you've got a a knowledge skill that might work for determining uh a symbol um give me that. Otherwise, just give me a >> religion for a god. >> Uh well, it depends. >> Weapon cultism >> crafting maybe. He kind of looks like he looks like a >> he does like you know like with that apron that looks like a >> if it's not it looks like a cloth apron. He could be a woodworker. >> So >> Brew Gilda with your 23 perception. I didn't I didn't get a I didn't get a knowledge check out of out of a Kudagawa. What's he doing? >> I am sorry. >> That's all right. We'll let >> I realized I was um >> crafting would probably be a one. If you if does anybody have any craft skills? >> Sure. I'm going to use the same role, same odd. So >> maybe do have a craft. >> There I am. >> Oh yeah. >> Okay. A knowledge skill >> or craft skill >> or a craft skill. >> Crafting 13. Okay. >> Knowledge. I don't see a knowledge. I'm sorry. >> Where's the knowledge? It's I think less means something dealing with the situation. So, anything that you feel like would work for identifying a symbol >> or a crafting skill or if that if none of that exists, perception >> could be thievery though because it could be something like distinguishing like, oh, is that person likely to have something valuable or is that likely to be >> I don't think I'm not saying I'm not accusing you of thievery. >> I got a 12. I I didn't do so well. >> No, you didn't. >> Um, >> that's okay. Uh, Grug Hilda with your perception 23 at first you're like that looks kind of familiar although although weirdly different but you remember your childhood in the in the uh dwarven enclave there where you lived >> that uh the people who made shoes and boots >> had these kind of tools that they used that would you these fold out things and it was like a sort of a combination of a of a measuring stick and a small curved knife and it looked a Not like that thing. >> So, he's a cobbler. >> Wow. Wow. I should have >> He's a cobbler who can't finish his boots. >> Well, maybe that's the fashion, though. >> Well, that could be that could be psychological just to drive him nuts. He's got to look at the unfinished boot while he's in the stock. >> Well, he can also tell if the if the cow patty or the horse patty is warm. >> That's true. If it's fresh. Yeah, he's Yeah, that's when he's not working. He's a horse patty tester. >> Huge future. Yeah, >> it's like that was pretty that one's pretty warm. Uh, this one's ready. This one's ready to eat. Um, okay. >> Right. >> Festival of the He's actually a designer. >> Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. >> Yeah. So you could hear him muttering, "All will not be well. None of this is going to help." Um, >> but he says none of it's going to help. What >> you say? You say that to him. I mean, you guys haven't talked to him yet. >> Say, "What do you what did you do wrong?" >> Yeah. >> According to them, >> I wrote the word lies on a on a flyer. >> I wrote a flyer molester. >> Cob cobbler. I'm a flyer molester. That's right. I'm writing that down, too. I'll be right back on a run to the restroom. >> Okay, >> let me see. Um >> uh no, he's he sort of laughs sort of derisively. He's like, what did I do? I got caught for public pessimism. >> Wow. >> And and he's like, >> "That's a darn shame." >> Yeah. He's like, "Look, you know, they they want me to smile. They want me to they uh they want me to do all those things, but honestly, I just can't. I can't. Not anymore." >> Who wants you to smile? Everybody around here I wants me to smile, but I can't anymore. Not since not since last winter when my my Kataterina died. >> Oh, we're so sorry for your loss, sir. >> Well, thank you. Thank you. That's very kind of you. >> You said your wife died. >> My Katarina. >> Oh, >> I'm so sorry. Um, >> not like you said to catch her in the died. >> No, no. Uh, my since my cat my catarina died. >> Hey. Uh uh. So, how long do you think they're going to keep you there? >> Till they let me out? I don't know. I' I've got to learn not to go out uh go out in public when these stupid festivals are happening. Idiots. >> Get out sooner. >> I thought it was mandatory. >> He looks at you. He looks at you aka kind of sly. He's like, I would I would indeed like to get out sooner. >> Okay. Well, look, let's play it cool for now. Um, if I set you free right now in the middle of the daylight with everybody here, you know, you'll be right back in there and >> Oh, they'll let me out. They'll let me out at the end of the day, probably. But I've got I've got a lot of shoes to cobble and a boots to make. I can't be sitting around with in the stocks because I didn't smile enough. >> Public pessimism, my cobbling ass, >> you know, forcing people to smile. That's That's really harsh and strange. Uh, who's making you smile? >> Order of the Order of the Burger Meister for the festival. Everybody's got to be happy. All will be well. >> We filled in about that uh by by the one constable. >> He's sort of warming to the subject. You hear the constables over there like Barislav, shut that. >> Wait, is this Burger Meister Meister Burger? >> It could be. No, no, that's uh it's Vasha. >> Oh, because that guy had a problem. Anyway, >> Burger Meister Meister Burger was a he >> I'll take not allowed to have toys there. >> That's right. No toys, no toys, you know. Okay. Well, all right. Look, friend. Uh uh we're real sorry that sorry this happened to you. Um is it like this all the time in this town? Yeah, they have they have basically they have these stupid festivals every every other week seems like. And if people don't want to go or people don't want to have fun or people aren't obviously having fun, the constables in the Bergmeister make the burmeister has his constiples just, you know, clamp down on on anything. It's like forced fun is no fun at all. >> Well, is there is there booze? >> Oh, yes. There's absolutely alcohol. Then why aren't people having fun? >> So he looks at you, he's like he kind of looks at you curiously. He's like, "You're not You're not from >> around here, are you? >> I'm not from around here. I I'm a traveler. I'm a traveler. I I've >> new to understand. Well, here's the here's the here's the thing. Uh the count is scared. The Bergammeister is scared of the count and he thinks that if we have festivals all the time and everybody's happy, the count will leave alone. I think that's that's no more true than this horseshit around that's around here. >> Oh, so he's >> everywhere. >> The Burger Meister scared. >> Yes. >> So he makes all >> [ __ ] I'm the Burger Meister. >> Oh my god. Oh man, >> give me those toys. >> Give me them damn toys, you little brats. Blur. All right, >> but basically, yeah, he tells you a similar story to what to what Vasha told you guys, which is basically the Bergammeister. So the story, and you missed this, Eric, but the story went like the Bergamiser when he So he it's an inheritable job. Like his father was the original Bergmeister, his last name is Balakovich. So it's he's from this is he's the he's the baron of this place. So when his father died and he took up the mantle of the baron, he took up the baron and became uh and became the bergammeister of of Aki, he was summoned to Castle Ravenloff to speak with the count. And the way Vasha told it basically was like he came back a very different man. Uh you know um at first he was like I'm the bar, you know, I'm the baron now. I'm you know I'm the baron. Uh but he came back basically what what Vasha described was he came back very cold. Uh he was uh quiet. Uh he looked like he looked like he'd seen a ghost. Um and so since then a lot of the Berggo Meister's pronouncements uh have been ways that what they interpret is basically ways that Burgermeister feels like if he can that he can either avoid the scrutiny of the count or in the last couple of years it's been proved to the count that is such a happy place and everybody here is happy there would be no reason for the count to intercede in any way here. That being the said said, you guys have seen the agents of the count here. I mean, the guys in the in the uh you know, in the black robes that you when you guys were at Durst and people talk about it, you know, the count's agents are here in the Aki. They they know they're here. That's people are people are nervous. You know, they don't It's like when Vasha talked about when you talked to him about uh you know, getting a blacksmith that could work in silver, he's like when you showed him how much silver you had, he's like, "Holy [ __ ] cuz silver's illegal. You're not supposed to have it that much silver. You know, people, you know, I mean, the unspoken thing was people would would snitch you out in a heartbeat to the to the countsmen >> to get whatever reward that might acrue to that kind of thing. You can't you he's like, you can't just walk that stuff around. People will People will rat you out. You will get the count's attention. >> Oh. U just for my own dumbass edification, um, >> of course. >> Is silver bad for vampires and undead? >> It is. It is indeed. >> Okay. >> That's werewolves too. >> Yeah. Werewolves too. >> All righty then. >> But that's why so I mean so when you guys remember when you first come in you you learned later that your your original employer uh was basically when he talked to you guys about you know I found a new plane. We're going to we're going to bring we're going to trade with them. We're going to you know financially exploit it. Um, basically what he was doing, he'd been there before and he'd learned that silver was um not only incredibly rare, but um you know the entire silver supply was largely controlled by the count uh and any silver that was any silver there's no silver mines or anything, but sometimes silver shows up and it's confiscated. It belongs to the count. All silver belongs to the count. Um, and so what your guys were doing, you're the when you guys came in, you guys were smuggling two big crates full of silver into the thing. The idea was since it's so rare that you could, they theoretically the idea was that you would sell it. Um, what you did was you got the count's attention, he sent a bunch of werewolves at you and killed all your guys and that's why you're stuck here, >> right? >> Probably not a surprise that it was a silver dragon was against him, too. So, >> yeah. Oh, it's >> all kind of coming together. Anyway, um forgot where we were, but yeah, he basically says the count since since he became Bergmeister, which is probably seven or eight years now that he was been the Bergamo Meister. Um he's been I mean he's he's he's been essentially devoted to demonstrating to the count that needs no direct interference. So sometimes it's like we fly under the radar. Sometimes it's like we're so happy we we have to be so happy that the count believes that nothing bad could ever happen. Nothing against him could ever happen in Vlocky. Sometimes the Bergamister will put on festivals that celebrate the count. But those those are pretty rare because he doesn't want to get the count's attention. He goes and basically this Muroslav guys is like this this is what he does. But Vasha told you that it happened after the Burggo Memeister the current Bergmeister visited the count of the castle. All right. So, you mentioned Katherina, didn't did we hear that like in our session 0, one, and two? >> Kather Katrina. No. >> No. And it seems probably like a common name around here. >> That's That's probably >> But yeah, she died she died in in the fall. He she died in the winter. Um, you know, she got uh uh sick. Um, and it was as if, you know, he he he's sad to talk about I mean, he could talk about it, but he's like, "I've never smiled since." He goes, "Um, you know, it seemed like she just wasted away. She was a healthy healthy woman. Uh, and then, you know, she just got sicker and sicker and finally she'd passed." >> What were two little bug bites on her neck? >> He didn't he didn't notice any bug bites, but um >> yeah, he didn't he didn't he said I don't know. It was just sometimes he says uh you know sometimes there's sometimes people catch that disease where they you know the wasting disease where they where they waste away. >> Does he have a shop nearby? >> His shop is right on the is is right on the uh thing as long as we're uh as long as we're uh you know filling out the hockey >> sentenced into the uh >> he thinks he'll be out in the end of the day. So if we're going to roll his house we got to do it now. Hey, when you show up, >> we're we're gonna we're gonna refer to the uh to the Kudagawa is the hamburger now. >> Yeah. >> Well, I I don't know. I pretty much heard those constables deputizing Akudagawa, didn't you? >> Yeah. >> He probably picked up a badge. Um, a kura got a a kuraga did not try to pickpocket the two constables on >> that guy would be easy to pickpocket. >> That is exactly what a pickpocket would say. Are >> there any official guards monitoring this or is he just out there by himself or >> Well, he's stuck in there. I mean, he's kind of out there by themselves. There's guards. There's a guard station on this in this sort of >> place. And here, let me just let me just kind of truck you back over there. Let's go back to the thing. So, make an ally of this guy. Uh, so he's so you're in this this square kind of here on your way to Madame Eva's and the constable's like the little constible station is like right over here. Um, and there's like various kind of stores and little shops kind of around there and then a ring of uh, you know, a ring of houses or bigger or larger shops around there. >> Which way is the stock facing towards or away from his collar? >> It's facing towards the uh, towards the Blackwater Inn. >> So facing behind him. That's perfect. >> Yeah, that's perfect. He's robbing the cobbler. You've only been in this town for like two days. Um, >> has got a reputation he's got to make. >> So, that's right. >> But, uh, but yeah, he's he's a collar. He's like, they'll let me out after thing. He says, uh, um, public pessimism is a [ __ ] charge, and they know I have work to do, so they'll let me out at, uh, before the sun goes down. >> I'm going to take a Sharpie and draw a smile on his face. >> Why? Why so serious, Miruslav? Um, but yeah, so yeah, he got busted for for public so he public pessimism uh during a festival. Uh, technically public pessimism in the run-up to a festival. >> Actually, Tenzen, if you want to do him a favor, you you do it to make his eyebrows look like he's always asking a question. >> Public pessimism is also dangerous in corporate life. >> I think it was I think it was pubic. >> I love this plan. I think the CEO is amazing. >> That's right. >> There is no way that this could fail. >> All right. So, should we move on to um Madame Eas? >> Yeah. >> I'm sorry. >> Oh, you're going back to going over to Madame Evas. >> Yeah, >> I think Madame Evas. >> All right. So, you walk down there. Uh you get to Madame Evas. The guy's like, "Thank you for your, you know, before you go, the guy in the stock is like, "Thank you for your kindness." um you know and listening to my story, you know, uh um you know, I don't get to do a lot of exposition while I'm in the stocks most of the time, you know, from a dungeon master standpoint, but you know, when I can I >> Well, is it half off all your half off all shoes? Well, so if if you ask him about that, this is, you know, he does so he he he he because it gets attention. This is how he advertises his business is wearing one half boot with his feet sticking out. And he says it also helps him test the test the horse patties to see how warm they are. >> A horse passed by here oh about a half an hour ago. >> About a half an hour ago. Yeah. >> And two riders. >> He's a horse he's a horse patty tester. Um all right. So, you get down to Madame Eva's and uh you you So, you don't see anybody around. There's nobody uh around. Her her little uh her little house seems to be locked up relatively tight. You get up, you mount the steps onto the onto the table and pound on the door. Um but there's no answer. Uh you hammer on it again, knock again. It's too early in the morning. It's probably only 7:30 or 8 o'clock in the morning. Uh, you hammer on it again. But again, >> no, no, we don't need to hammer on it. Hey, Tenzen, come here. Look this way. And we'll put our backs next to each other. Give uh give a kudua a good uh a good thing to hide behind to pick the lock if he needs to. >> Okay, >> awesome. >> Should we sing some celebratory songs? >> She might be in the can. >> She might be in the can. They don't have indoor plumbing. She might be in the can. Yeah, you got to come back later. Madame is in the can. >> I like you know the can. We were There's that camp. >> Oh, the Vistani camp. >> Yeah. >> Oh, I thought you asked. She was in the can. Okay. >> Can That's what I heard, too. >> Yeah, Madame Eva's in the can. She'll be out in a minute. >> Light a match, Eva. Um but uh yeah, so you so you knock on the door a couple of times. Not only do you does nobody answer it, but uh you don't hear any like footsteps inside or the shuffling gate of a older woman in slippers? Nothing like that. So just it seems like seems closed up. It feels like nobody's home. Does it look uh uh like it doesn't look Does it look unsettled on the outside? Does it look like >> Yeah, I don't think she's >> No, it looks it looks the exact same way like it looked before. There's these like you know there's like this little porch with a rocking chair on it. There's a couple of fairly fart ass looking plants uh you know in in in pots that look ancient. You sort of sitting there. They don't look like they're doing too good. Yeah, it looks exactly right. The only thing different from when you guys were here last time is the big shutters on the front like on the front window are closed. >> Yeah, >> she might be out gathering herbs or something. Why don't we beat feet to the dwarven blacksmith? >> Yes, that's good. >> We could we could leave a note for her. >> Good. >> Write a note. Pop it under the door. >> As long as a note doesn't say lies lies, we're okay. put on the party. >> Please come to the festival. >> See you at the fest. >> Well, actually, we'll see how good Maddie Eva is. We'll just say we're looking for you and leave a note. >> Okay. >> We won't tell her who. If she's that good, she'll know who it is. >> She'll know who. >> All right. So, you guys go from Madame Evas. You're going to go over to Vznes. Vzna's black. Uh Vznes the Tavern. Uh, the other guy is >> I thought it was over here. >> Vlad. >> No, no. Bezik Bezna is the blacksmith, right? >> Beza is the tanner. Bad is >> tanner. Yeah. >> That's always a bit scary. >> That's where the guy where Thal Black Black Blackwater said his his cousin takes pelts. Yeah. >> Glenn recommended one. There's another blacksmith, too. But we we want to go to >> Well, the other blacksmith I think Dasha was gonna go talk to >> this guy here. >> If we got a a dwarven blacksmith, >> that might be to our >> We are, but this guy is also a blacksmith. >> Yeah, I thought I thought there was one more choosy because they were more discreet. >> We don't know who that is. >> We're not going to do the discretion. We're going to do the chain mail, >> right? And I think going to a dwarven blacksmith would would help your cause. And also we could find out like maybe he'll tell us like why are there no dwarves? Like it's so strange. >> Well, he may not know he's a dwarf. So I wouldn't bring that up. >> Might not know he's a dwarf. >> And he's going wow. A dwarven lady's in the town. >> Yeah. This might be a dating site for you, too. Who knows? >> Could be a bearding contest. >> A beard contest. But no, no, for for fitting of your chain mail, I think a dwarven blacksmith would be ideal. >> Yes, >> I'm in. Let's do it. >> All right, let's head for it. >> All right, so you guys head over to Vlad. As you get close, you can hear, you know, there's more people on thing and you get more of that like, you know, and it's again, they're saying things like, "Hey, smile more. You know, the festival's going to be this weekend. It's going to be great. All will be well." You know, that kind of thing. Uh, but you can see that they're, you know, it's like their their smiles are pasted on. Uh, and you find, you can't help but find yourself like sort of doing the same things. Um, you know, as you do it, you know, you're like every time you, you know, you start passing somebody, uh, you, um, you know, you start, you know, throwing on a fake smile as you, as you do it because you're like, everybody seems to be doing it. Um, >> and do you think there are people who report you if you're not smiling adequately? Well, the one guy was in the stocks for public pessimism. >> Yeah. >> So I Yeah, it's obviously punishable. >> Can persist? I think it can. >> Yeah, >> it will move things. Just move those cheeks up like this. >> Um, yeah. But as you get as you get closer, you could hear uh you see people on the streets. It seems like a normal day in Vaki, which is kind of surreal after the evening that you had the night before. Um but uh you know everything seems relatively normal. You get to Vladex and you do see dwarves kind of like wandering around. There's uh you see a couple of dwarves. One of them uh you know there's one guy he looks like to your eyes uh Grildilda he looks like a younger dwarven male. Uh and he's kind of like comes out the the back of the house and grabs up uh not only some wood but it looks like a big bucket of what looks to be coal uh that he drags back into the main the main room. You can hear the sound of hammer and tongs and stuff like that. Uh and uh you know uh what sounds to be as you listen as you guys get closer you can hear them talking in there and Guggilda to your ears it's definitely dwarfish. They're speaking in dwarfish but it's a it's a kind of dwarfish >> that you really never heard before. I mean, it's like to your ears, it's like heavily accented and the word choices are kind of strange. Like I would never, you know, that makes sense. They say, you say something, you listen to like, okay, that makes sense, but I would never say that that way in dwarfish, you know, that kind of thing. >> They're hangling their participles. >> Yeah, they're tangling their participles. Well, you know how sometimes, you know, I don't know if you guys have taken any language. in German. I took German in high school and one of the things that is common in the German language is the verb goes at the end of the sentence. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> And so when you meet German people and my friend Benny is originally from Germany. He moved here and he he he speaks great English and he lives in America. But when I first met him, he hadn't been in America very long, but he he was speaking English. And sometimes he would slip and say things like, "We are to the movies going." >> Uh because of where the they put their verbs and stuff. No, in the in the formal trance. In the formal trance, yes. But if you say I love you, >> but I don't love >> they sort of talk like Yoda then >> a little. Yeah, sometimes. But yeah, he would say stuff like that and everybody sort of blew him a bunch of crap for it. But >> yeah, there's there's formal and informal German. The You're right. >> Boss was at the end on formal German. >> C and do uh formal and informal. Uh but anyway, yeah. I mean, >> you got Then you got Jim who's a Mexican American. He took Spanish in high school and got a B. >> Sometimes that happens. You know, Mexican Spanish is different from what they call uh from Spanish in other countries in South America. And it's a lot different from what my Ecuadorian Spanish or uh Uruguayan Spanish teacher called the royal Spanish, which is what they speak in Spain. >> Brailian. >> Yeah. So, it's different. Uh, and they said the best way to know if somebody's from Spain and if they're speaking Spanish is instead of saying something like gracias, they say gracias. >> Gracias. >> They Yeah, they uh they lisp the seas. >> Yeah. >> Oh, really? >> That's That's royal Spanish. Yeah. >> My Spanish was the opposite of royal Spanish. It was [ __ ] Spanish. Uh, and my my Spanish teacher pointed that out on a number of occasions. I used to do this. So, I was I taught uh I so I tried to learn Spanish for work and uh sorry uh annoying anecdote time. Um so I tried to learn Spanish for I was learning Spanish for work and it was all verbal Spanish was uh a thing. And so my problem and I don't know why my brain works this way because I mentioned I took I took German in high school. So I think in my brain there is a place labeled foreign words and all of my high school German is stuck there and I was trying to learn Spanish and all those sp all that Spanish uh uh words were going in there but every once in a while I would be saying something trying to say something in Spanish and I didn't have the vocabulary and a German word would slip out >> into the into the sentence and my teacher would look at me like like a like a cat looks at you when you wrinkle when you crinkle aluminum foil in front kind of like that. What the what what is Yeah, that so uh the the Spanish word for with is cone. Uh but the German word for with is mitt. And I said some sentence where I was supposed to say cone and I said mitt and she goes no mitt. No mitt. >> Nine mitt. >> Yeah. >> Nine mit. >> So she was laughing. So I passed I spashed level three brletes because I bribed my teachers with bottles of wine. I went in I went in the last day when I was having my examination. I said, "I just want to tell you guys, you guys have been fantastic Spanish teachers. I've learned a ton. Here's a I just want to give you a present." I put, you know, I had three different teachers and I gave three bottles of wine. And I said, "I also just wanted to remind you guys that if I don't pass my exam, my company's going to not pay their half of the bill." Uh, and it's going to be a big problem. >> A nice reasoning. >> I passed. >> I'm not in charge of the money >> and I never went back. >> You are. >> So anyway, uh, so yeah, you can hear. So, uh, Gildo, you hear dwarfish, uh, being spoken inside there, uh, yelled in in in in quite a bit, but, uh, it's not the kind of dwarfish you would speak. >> Boy, are they going to be surprised when she walks in with a pair of orcs. >> We haven't seen any orcs in this town. I'll tell you that right now. Or goblins for that matter. All right. But yeah, you kind of roll around and it's and it's largely an open air kind of kind of blacksmith. You need that so the smoke can get out, that kind of thing. They've got they've got this chimney over the forge, but it's all black and full of crap and that kind of stuff. So, there's smoke sort of if you look in the the ceiling is all black and stuff like that where the smoke is poured out. They're working away. They've got a they've got a big forge going on and then another dwarf has a littleer forge where he's making something smaller and they're just hammering away and cooking it up, cooking up the metal. >> Okay. Well, I'll go in and greet them. But I guess in common >> in common. All right. He looks he kind of looks over and he's like he walk he kind of walks over and he's like uh uh welcome welcome madam uh welcome welcome to Vladx. Uh I'm a a blacksmith by trade which I'm sure you know. Uh he's like um what uh what clan are you from? I haven't made your acquaintance. I thought I knew every every uh and he uses the dwarfish word for dwarf. He's I thought I knew everyone and it's like our people. Uh what do they say that every language on earth has a word for the people >> and then the also a word for other guys. >> Yes. >> So I will address that second part. I too have been found it very mysterious. So few of our people I'm so glad to see you. Um I'm hoping you can help. I have this lovely chain mail, but doesn't these people can't design properly for for our people. Yeah. Uh, all right. So, yeah. >> I need it let out in the back just a little. >> All right. So, he's he's like uh uh you know Vladic um you know Vladic Morvane at your service and he you know shakes your hand and he's like I'd be happy to take a look at this chain mail. Uh, and so yeah, he's looks it over, takes it over to a a big rack that's obviously made for armor and hangs it up. He kind of like examines it, calls over one of his sons, and they it turns out they're it's obviously he's got two sons uh that work with him in the thing. They're younger they're younger dwarfish males. They come over and they're examining and they they speak very quick sort of dwarfish to each other. Um, you know, uh, it's a little hard to follow for you. Does anybody else speak dwarfish? >> Nobody. I do not. >> All right. So, Guggill, yeah, it's even it's it's like very very peppery dwarf that they they go back and forth with each other, but they're like he's Yeah. He's like, "I can fix it. We're going to have to take some measurements." And he's like, "Take some measurements." You know, that kind of thing. And he's they bring out the straps and the you know, it's like leather straps with little things on it. And he's like, you know, the one of the sons is like, "Madam, if you if you don't mind, could you remove your scale?" >> Oh, of course. Um uh is can anyone else wear a scale? Like if I take the chain, can someone take the scale? Like is that a mean do hand-me-downs all the way or >> I have to measure them? >> Should I like give it back in? >> I ought to sell it to him to pay for your um >> Yeah. >> chain altercation. >> Yeah, maybe I can do that. Okay. Yes. I'll take off my scale and put uh I guess >> stand however he needs to, you know. take the measurements. >> Okay. >> Hit the chain. >> Gotcha. All right. Cool. Cool. So, yeah. So, he takes off you take off the the scale. They help you remove it. They're u you know, they're very helpful. And um uh you know, and then >> I'm going to put on the the beard to keep the stray hairs. >> Oh, welcome to the beard emporium. You know, we got everything. Uh I passed a digitation so I can keep everything really tidy and you know >> but uh >> the beardium is for dwarves only. Uh all right. So yeah, so they get you uh they get you out uh out of the scale and begin taking measurements. You can see them writing with charcoal on a little piece of wood that they, you know, wipe off, you know, if they make it. And uh and they get your measurements and uh they show them to the to Vladic. He nods and uh you know, he's examining. He's like, "This chain mail is pretty pretty good." Um, he goes, "And there's certainly plenty of links here for us to make something, uh, you know, smaller, uh, you know, for, you know, something that will fit one of our people. Um, >> I've got a couple of jobs going on right now. Can I uh, how long how long will you be in Aki?" >> Well, how about this instead? Do you have one already made up for a dwarf >> that we could then >> possibly use these other twos to supplement what we would >> get from you? >> So he will he he looks a bit abashed when you ask him that question. He says I I'm it's sad to say that I do not and he kind of looks at Grillilda. is it's it's it's rare that one of our people comes to me for for work. Uh and many of the many of the dwarves I in town that I know I've already done the work for. Seems like I have my own, you know, obviously I have of a male hallwork that I you that I have and my sons both have their own, but um but they wouldn't they wouldn't fit her and they'd have to be I probably need >> be altered anyway. >> Yeah, it would have to be altered anyway. This is probably the best. This I can get you done in three days. >> We could do three days in time for the festival. >> Just in time for the festival. >> You'll be able to wear You'll be able to wear your your new mail to the festival. >> That is perfect. >> All right. Per Yeah. Uh he's like, "I will require some of the payment." Uh he's like, "Let me figure out what it'll be." Look at the He looks at the measurements again and uh he's kind of looks around. and he's like uh for one of our people 18 electrons make it 16. >> Uh see if see if you'll take your scale in in trade because >> you don't have any possibility once I once I have the chain I won't need the scale. I could give you the scale for some kind of a discount. >> No, no, I should pay for it. That scale is worth more than uh 16. >> Scale is very valuable. >> Scale. So he inspects the it's it's not another another rack. He inspects it. He's like, "This is good quality sized for one for one of our people." Indeed. He yells uh something in dwarfish to one of the sons. The son goes back uh into the back and and comes out with a small pouch which he hands to his dad. His dad looks in it and says, "Indeed, here you go. I'll uh that deal is acceptable to and he hands you the pouch which has 22 electrum coins in it. >> Well, that's terrific. But I think I need to wear that scale because we are going to go hunting wolves >> and I and uh then I you're going wolf hunting. Excellent. Uh then in that case take the scale with you and I will presume upon your your honor as and he says the word for dwarf again that you will return uh and we will conduct and we will complete this deal as spoken. Do I have your agreement? And he puts out his hand. >> I agree. >> All right then. Excellent. It is always good and uh uh um it is always he's he's like Miss Blessed beard it is always good to see one of our people. I do hope that you will stay in Valaki uh uh for a reasonable amount of time. Perhaps even we may uh uh see each other again after >> after our business is conducted. Perhaps we will see each other again. >> I can >> where does Electrum fall between silver, gold, and platinum? >> So essentially in this in this millio since silver is banned and controlled, electrum is essentially silver. Um, okay. >> So, 10 to one ratio or two to one. >> 10 to one. 10 electro of gold. >> Okay. Same same >> cuz we have 30 gold uh Bovian mint from the uh Durst House. >> Okay. >> That was in a bag. >> That's a fair amount of cash. >> Yeah. >> 30 gold goes a long way. You just you just um basically he bought the scale mail. He bought the scale mail. Uh it's 22 electrum to you after he was going to charge you 18 and then he reduced to 16 the our people discount. Uh so that would be what 30 and you're getting 22 back for the scale. So a scale a code of scale mail here would be 38. Is that equal? Yeah. 38 38 uh electron >> 38 electron. So we have to like watch when we're talking to people and if we were doing some kind of a barter thing not to slip in that silver since we're not used to the electrum top. >> Well in this case I mean it's probably smart to have a tally of Golarian coinage and Bovian coinage. Oh, >> because frankly it's I mean I don't know. Have you used I think you used Galarian coinage at the Blue Water Inn, but the guy mentioned it, right? He's like, I'm not familiar with these outlandish coins. >> Um but he took it, you know, he he did a quick assay and took it. So >> gold is gold. >> Gold is gold, >> right? >> I think he took that in copper. I think we had copper for him. >> Oh, did you? We may need a fence to uh uh change our existing gold to >> Well, well, like I said, we've got 30 Bovian mint coins right now in gold. So, >> Right. Right. So, we should keep a thing. And then I still have silver on my thing, but did we pull the silver? >> We we did not keep keep your individual silver, but we talked about >> Okay. >> all of it together. >> Okay. cuz we don't want to have it in one place because that might make that >> person uh uh >> a target >> a target or visible. Yeah. Yeah. >> Well, there was some there was some talk about like I think it was the guy back in Bovia that that rescued you cuz remember he had like a silver dagger um that he had and he had a coin a a Golarian silver coin that he had gotten off of somebody. Um, and he told you that there were some some of the count's servants were really good at sniffing out silver. >> Yeah. >> Um, we also have a silver letter opener that we got off of Mr. Durst's desk that uh >> Yeah. It's not actually have >> Huh. >> It's not actually silver. >> No, it's not. Okay. >> It's It's a Yeah, it's a it's an alloy of some silvery metal, but it's not >> silver. >> Yeah, it's not. It's Well, it has no silver in it. It's a different metals. >> I see. >> All right. So, your business completed at Vladex. What next? >> Back to the blue water in and figure out when the festival's coming up. >> Do we need to Well, le here here's where we we step out of character and and uh >> to get to get Matt in the group. How do you want us to proceed? >> Well, he's not ready to join us tonight, so it'll be it'll be a different night. So, he's just watching tonight, getting a lay of the land, and then he and I are going to talk over the course of the next couple of weeks. Uh, and get him and get him sorted. So, >> the festival >> to sit there and and and flounder. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Um, >> the festival's not for three days, right? >> We could go We could go to the mill. >> Yeah, I think we could go to the mill and come back. >> Matt's like, I'll be there for the festival. I'll beat you at the fest. I thought it was going to be >> I thought he was going to be in the stock. >> All right. All right. So, you guys go back to the blue water in unload some of your material, things like that. Uh >> I need to unload a a heavy crossbow. Where would I do that? >> There's So, there's there's several places that sell bows and arrows. Um here uh you know uh a Fletcher. Those kind of those kind of weapons are quite common actually. Our uh you know uh >> this is a heavy crossbow. It' be ideal for for wolf hunting. >> For wolf hunting. Yeah. You could probably get you could probably get a good price for that. >> Ideal for wolf hunting. >> And and um you know you don't need to draw that out if you want. You can just you know we can just determine moneywise. >> Yeah. I mean, there's there are several places that you could stop by, uh, and and do that. Uh, one second, let me, uh, and so, um, there, you know, they're asking about bolts as well as you have bolts for it as well. >> I do have bolts, but I'd like to hold on to the bolts because I have my own heavy crossbow. This other one, basically, I'm carrying two. It's a pain in the butt. >> Okay. Are any of them magic? >> Take one off. >> Nothing's magic. These were the ones from the Durst house. There was one heavy. Um there was one regular rather ornate like um you said more femaleish. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Decoration and then there was one hand crossbow. >> Yep. Gotcha. Okay. Like a set. >> But they're all high quality. >> Yep. All right. So, heavy crossbow. Yeah. You get you get a pretty good price for them. You get you get uh um you get 25 electron pieces for it >> per for eight that single heavy. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Uh, go ahead, Jim, and throw that in the party booty. He's just carrying two crossbows. That's That's, you know, kind of cumbersome. >> It's weird. Yeah. >> All right. Uh, as you're in the Blue Water Inn, uh, you're sitting around, uh, you're talking about should we go to the, uh, should we go to the thing? Should we go uh to the um you know to the should we go to the >> the old mill when a woman comes in and she sort of glances around and she's dressed kind of like >> you know well she's certainly local uh and uh she seems nervous, agitated. She kind of looks around and then she her eyes light up on you and she comes over to your tables. Uh and and she's like, "Uh, excuse me, good, good, good sir and ladies. I have a I have a question and I I just need to I I I just I don't know who else to talk to. I can't talk to the constables about it. Uh, I certainly can't talk to uh, you know, but uh, I I I feel like there something I should I I I I can't help but and I saw I saw you speaking to to Miruslav and I and I saw that you seemed, you know, you were kind to him and I and I thought you might be the right people to talk to. May I join you? >> Yeah. Well, you just turned into the A team, y'all. >> I love it when a plan >> when the people can't go through the regular channels. when people can't when people when people can't get help from the smiling constables, they turn to the A team. Uh >> so she said she sits down. She's like, "Thank thank you." She says, "My uh my name's Magda uh and I live over there. Miruslav is my friend and I saw you speaking to him today and I spoke to him later and he said, "You were you were very kind to him and and so I I I I honestly I I didn't know who else to turn to. I wasn't sure that the constables would would help and you know there are and she kind of looks around she goes and there are certain people that you just don't tell things to in this town. Uh and so I thought oh I'm at my wits end. I don't know what to I don't know what to do and I thought I have to tell somebody. So she basically comes out and she says I live near Heinrich's shop and something is wrong there. And you're like who's Hinrich? And she's like he's the man who makes coffins. >> Oh. Uh, >> nameler. >> Huh? >> Guy's name Himmler. >> He walks around with a boot with a coffin on the front of it. Uh, that's how you can tell what his job is. Um, no, I'm kidding. Um, but she says, "Look, I I live nearby the Coffin Makers, Hinrich, the Coffin Maker Shop. Uh, and she's like, and I've seen things. I've heard things. Uh, first I've seen out my window. I've seen him taking delivery of big crates uh at night, sometimes late into the evening. Um, and I I've never known Hinrich before to to be active in the night like any of us. Um, and sometimes I hear what sounds like scratching on on wood over by his shop. And sometimes I hear it close to my house and it frightens me. Uh, and I also hear voices sometimes in in his shop that I as I walk by that I that I that I know for a fact aren't him. I I just I can't help but think that there's something something going on there. I I and I don't know who to I don't know who who else to tell. >> Do you think he's in trouble? >> Well, I don't know. I He's always been cordial, if not kind. You know, there few of us in in the neighborhood who I suppose would consider him a friend. Uh but he's always been a good neighbor and and always a an upstanding an upstanding citizen, which is why this is also vexing. >> Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt. We could we could go make inquiries and see if he seems well. >> Would you? I I know that would be I know I know that would be something. >> Glattis Kravitz. Who's Glattus Kravitz? >> Uh the neighbor from Bewitched. Yeah. Beware. >> Oh, is it okay? Uh she's rat. Yeah. So, yeah, it's so basically the story she tells is like she's heard funny noises. She hears this weird and she she comes back to it a couple of times. She's she's like, "I've heard this weird kind of scratching, like somebody scratching on wood." Uh, and the unspoken thing, I mean, the reason that she seems so disconcerted by this scratching, and you finally you finally go, "Oh, I get why she's so nervous about it is she talks about scratching on wood that's that, you know, you can't hear. You think it's scratching on the inside of a coffin." Um, you know, like maybe there's something in the coffin scratching on the wood. That's why she keeps she kind of keeps going back to this like I hear the sound and that kind of stuff and she's like I hear these whispering voices and I know the voices aren't his uh you know it's not him and you know and you know she's a mid she's a medieval woman who works at night. That's crazy. We're all sleeping after right after Wheel of Fortune. Uh >> are are any of are any of her neighbors disappearing? No, I haven't I haven't seen any everybody in the neighborhood, you know, although some of us are are are concerned. You know, I expressed my concern to some of the neighbors, but they said that they hadn't they hadn't heard anything like that. And I don't know of any who have disappeared. You mean uh uh you know, I don't know that the I don't know that the constable or or other organizations have taken anyone. >> I just don't know what to think. and and it's just it's it's bedeled by I I can't I can't hardly sleep for for thought of it and and and the and the sounds that I hear and and just the worry for Heinrich. It's just it's it's it's disconcerting. >> Have you seen Heinrich recently? >> I have. He's in his shop every day working away building his coffins and sawing what? He seems fine. I even I even worked up the courage to ask him about it. But uh he said that that uh I asked him about you know I tried to ask him casually about the delivery that he had taken the night before and uh he said that there was no such delivery and he didn't know what I was talking about and perhaps I had perhaps I had dreamed it. I tell you right now I know that I did not dream it. >> Obviously it's time to check this out. Mhm. >> If you if you I I you seem like very honorable people and and Miroslav is a is a good judge of of of of people and if he says if he says that you're kind and uh you're kind intelligent travelers then then I for one believe it. I I I do hope I do hope you'll look into it. I just I just don't know where to turn any. >> No, definitely. But don't look into it too soon because the maps and things that the DM would have to make aren't quite completely. >> Well, does it do we need to uh look into it before the festival? >> I think after Well, maybe before the festival, but after the mill would be good. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Because we we were going to hunt wolves. >> Going to hunt. If you have a if you have a wolf hunting trip planned, I think go do that. go catch your wolves and then come back and then and then make Yeah, that' probably be the best time. >> That sounds perfect. >> But yeah, so so with that, I mean, she seems she seems almost embarrassed at at the end to sort of like that she's presumed upon you in this way. She's like, "I'm sorry. I I I I I I'm not sure why I told you this, but if it's something that you feel like you can look into, I would be much obliged. It would just it would, you know, would it would soothe my conscience about it. I I just I just don't know what to think. And I'm worried about Hinrich. I'm I'm You know, and she But you know, when she says she's worried about Hinrich, you get the impression she's also worried about herself. >> Well, we're going to take care of this for you, ma'am. Um it it it's obviously just rats or something, you know, and >> rats. They give me the creeps. >> They give me the creeps, too, you know. You know, uh >> could be undead. Who knows? She's She's She's probably like, "Whose kid is this?" Well, I mean, in a town like Velaki where under the under the counts thing, I mean, who the coffin maker is getting midnight deliveries, who knows what's going on with that. That's that could be disconcerting. So, >> we're going to take care of it for you, ma'am. In fact, um, as soon as possible, thank you for letting us know about this. Um, >> you're welcome. Thank you. Thank you, sir. She shakes all of your hands and uh you know that kind of thing and she's like just thank you. Go ahead. >> Let's actually not make a big deal about this. Let's kind of keep it all on the down low. In fact, if this conversation never even happened, that's okay, too. >> Oh, of course. I understand completely. I I will I won't say a word to anyone. >> Actually, you know, my advice is just carry on as you were. Try to relax. Just just um do whatever you do. I guess they want you to smile around. Smile a lot around here. Except for now. Smile. Say the festival. >> You've heard at the festival. Oh, yes. I think all will be well after all, won't it? Now that I've spoken to you, I think even more will be well. >> Well, we're going to do our best. I mean, ma'am, I'm I'm sure it's just rats, that's all. >> Well, if you could get to the bottom of it and and and and help that poor man, uh uh I I I would be I would be in your debt. That would be just a that would that would be best. Thank you so much. >> And then she kind of like scoots out. She does seem like she's, you know, stepping with a bit more confidence. She seems pleased that she's mentioned this to her uh to you guys. But yeah, I mean it's >> Oh, Kudigawa. Did you bump into her? >> No, I didn't. You know, you know, >> you tried to feel up Magda. Not feel her. Did you say Did you say Magda? Is her last name Carter? >> Oh, but Oh my god. Um, no. Um, Akuda only steals from wealthy scoundrels. >> Ah, gotcha. >> Um, but you think, >> well, you could have put money in her pocket. >> That's right. >> Yeah. You want to get her in real Dutch, put a piece of silver in her pocket. >> Oh, right. >> Whatever happened to Magda? I don't know. She disappeared that one night. Yeah. Um, >> nobody has seen her since. >> So, friends, I I I kind of want to go um talk to the Meister. Burger. No, I'm sorry. The Burger Meister. God. >> Well, you're going to talk. >> But I think we ought to set out very warning for the the mill. >> Yeah, let's gohead to the mill and see what we can >> the millise. We do need to talk to Dasha though and see what he knows about um someone willing to help with a silver weapon if that's possible. But other than that, >> we can push off for the mill. >> Oh, sorry. I was lying when I was saying we were going wolf hunting. I thought that that would be better than telling people about the mill. >> No, I'm telling you that, not not her. Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. No, you're not telling Magda that. No, no. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> I see. I see. Okay. Well, you know, let's go on a wolf hunt. Why not? You know. >> Okay. >> All right. So, you guys you guys stop by uh Vashes. >> Uh. Yes. >> Okay. >> May I see the map again? >> Of course. >> Sorry about that. I just um I like to get myself organized. Um uh uh and Vasha is where again? Uh >> Vasha's house is over here. >> Over here. >> Oh, I the Blackwater Tavern. >> I was seeing just half the map. Hold on. Let me just Okay. You know, for a second I thought Vessna was Veta. I thought, "Oh my god." >> No, that's Vec the Tanner down below. >> No, it's Veta the Archletch. You're all going to die. >> After after losing in Stranger Things, he settled in. Right. He settled the blocking. >> Well, I thought he lives in I thought he lives in St. Louis since he's the archish. >> He's the arch. >> It's an It's an actual arch. Um, look, there it is. Uh, yeah. So, you guys All right. So, you guys, uh, truck back over to Vasha's house. Um, uh, he's not there. Uh, you knock on his door a couple of times, he's he's gone. It's possible. He did mention that he had to work today, so he's probably out on stable somewhere. >> Right. Right. Right. >> On stableing. We we'll we'll visit him just before nightfall to see what he knows. Uh and then we'll we'll >> spend hopefully an uneventful night at the blue water and then shove off for the the mill early in the morning. >> Early in the morning. >> Wolf hunting. >> Wolf hunt. >> Wolf hunting. >> Wolf hunting. >> Right. >> So when you go back him to him uh sort of the evening, he's back home. He's fixing himself to dinner. He welcomes you guys in, asks if you could stay for a glass of wine. Uh, and says, "I did talk to my friend. Uh, his name is Lucien. Uh, and he works at the blacksmith shop that we know about this one over here." So, um, don't talk to the main blacksmith. You ask for Lucian. Lucian's the guy you want to talk to. And he can he can fix that armor for you. And, uh, I told him to, uh, um, and I, I talked to him a little bit about your I asked him about your question. Uh, and at first he was a little nervous, but he did say that if if possible, he would certainly be willing to hear you guys out. >> Oh, >> he's a he's a friend and he's no friend and he's no friend of the count. >> I can vouch for him. But his name's Lucien. >> Lucen. Okay. >> We'll let him know that Groom Hilda made a deal with Laddex. >> Well, I still think we go talk to him about Yeah. >> getting the weapon. That way it keeps Ladak Smithy out of that. >> Right. Yeah. >> Right. Right. Right. makes sense. And then chances are it'll take him a few days, so we'll probably have to leave the material with him and uh and get it when we return for the festival. >> Are do you think we'll do all of it at once with him or >> Well, I don't again I I I don't know what what we're thinking of doing. I I personally think making one big weapon like a sword for you >> would be our best bet as opposed to uh just arrowheads or something. >> A dagger if it if it would come out. But yeah, a sword would probably be best. >> Well, I'm just trying to We're gonna have limited capabilities anyway and then everybody fighting with the dagger just doesn't seem like a practical >> Well, I mean Yeah, I No, I agree. one one single sword would, >> you know, because right now if we're attacked by werewolves, we're we're all dead because we can't hurt him at all. >> Right. Did we did we um did we did we determine how much gold how many silver coins would be? >> Yeah, I think we can make uh several arrow heads or one long sword size weapon. Now, it's not pure silver, of course, because, you know, it'd be too soft. It would be a good weapon. >> Um or uh several daggers. >> Okay. So, I I think I use a bastard sword because if you use it twohanded, it's a D12. Yeah, I have a bastard sword. So, that's um >> Yeah, bastard sword. Long long sword. >> Well, bastards bastard swords are huge. Um, >> yeah, they're big big swords. >> Well, they're just called bastard swords because they don't know who their parents are. >> That's right. >> Bastard sword. >> I don't actually know what the difference is between a long sword and a boward sword. But a long >> different different pommel. Uh, mostly >> bastard sword would have a hand and a half, whereas a long sword would just be a a single. >> A long sword is what John Carter of a Mars. But but but But but but Arson use Barum John Carter used a long sword. Never mind. >> Yeah, but those swords were like ridiculously crazy cuz but he was super strong. >> He was very strong and the sword lighter is true. >> So bastard sword according to this a bastard sword is just a little bit it's technically a short sword because it's not as long as a long sword. Uh, but it can be wielded two-handed and or onehanded. That's the thing about >> it's a little little shorter and >> nice. You you can use it either way at one hand and I think onehanded it's the same as a long sword, right? Long sword is >> D8 slashing. >> But but but a long sword you is versatile. You can use a two-handed, but I think it's only a D10, right? So, I don't know why a bastard sword gives you a D12, but >> because it's it's a wider, heavier blade. >> Oh, it's a wider >> Yeah. >> Okay, that makes sense. >> But it's about the same material. >> Okay. >> The same volume. >> Yes. >> Of metal. Yeah. It's just shorter. A little shorter. >> A little shorter and broader. >> Little wider. Yeah. >> Kind of like a dwarf. It's >> about the same amount of meat as a human, but just a compact package. >> Right. Right. Right. Right. Got you. >> When you play tatus, then you rearrange the uh >> That's right. Right. >> Squish it down. Yes. It's like making a hamburger and a smashburger. The smash burger is much much wider. >> Smoking like a true burger master. >> That's right. >> We should kill the old burger master and take over with this knowledge. >> Uh, all right. So, what's that? I mean, you guys going to head out of town to go to It's still very early in the morning, you guys. Well, I mean, it's late at night, so you guys you stay then overnight at the Blue Water. >> Blue Water. Yeah, we want to head out early in the morning. >> Well, and hopefully we can talk to Lucien before we go. >> Hi, gents. I'm just going to walk through the bar again and uh uh serve you guys some drinks. >> Oh, right. >> Yeah. I tell you, this place is populated by ghost. >> I think I think he has a the ability to phase. >> He's a ghost. >> He's a changeling. Yeah, he might be undead. It's like in uh what was that movie with Bruce Willis? >> Willis secret. >> Seven sense. >> Six sense. >> Six sense. Yeah. >> He was a ghost the whole time. The barbon. Uh but yeah. So you uh actually uh there's a fair um there's a fair it's a fairly festive evening at the Blue Water Inn. Uh a lot of people even though they sort of like you know grimace at the all you know they're all like joking around. all will be well, you know, the festival's coming, that kind of thing. They do seem to be having a good time, uh, at least this evening. And to a certain extent, some of them are even looking forward to it. They you hear that the the Bergamiser has contracted, um, you know, for several barrels of ale from the brewer, uh, and that there'll be wine, uh, you know, from the from the from the wizard will be here, uh, and, you know, there it's all going to be gratus. You know, people are going to be roasting stuff. They're going to be it's it it actually when they hear you hear them talk about it, it sounds like it's going to be actually kind of a a fun event. >> Uh but the whole forced levity and mandatory attendance uh is sort of like that's got people a little a little um >> a little annoyed. >> Look at this wolf on the beam up here has antlers coming out of the back. >> Yeah. Don't look at that one. >> I think I think little >> I think it's ropes tied around >> that one back there too. I think that's ropes. >> Well, they they hunt deer, too. So, uh you know, it could be that >> uh the dreaded deer wolf. >> The deer wolf. >> Does that one over there? Oh, no. That's feet. I love that. >> Hey, I love that show. The guy with the helicopter. >> A beer. >> A beer. >> Bear. Deer. It's a wolf. >> It's a man bear pig. >> Um dolph. >> But yeah, I mean after uh uh the frivolity of the evening, everybody seems to have a good time. You guys have a good time. The food is good. the ale goes down. You pass you pass the evening um well well and get uh a a good uh a good night's sleep. >> I want to rent out that little room for a Kudagawa, the ones with the separate staircase. >> Yes. >> Do we do we need to uh pay ahead on our room at all? >> Uh you could. I think you're paid up for the rest of the week. >> Okay. Um, but I'm I'm not 100% sure. I think I think yeah, you you're paid up for the rest of the week. >> We told them I mean depending on how long you guys are planning to stay. Depending on how long you guys are planning to stay, who knows? >> Yeah. Well, we don't we don't know. >> Gotcha. Okay. >> We're going to be here through at least the festival. So, save our room. >> Yeah, the festival. >> We'll be We definitely are in town for the festival. All right. So yeah, he says like, you know, the rooms are, you know, if you want to if you want to pay for it, you think you're going to be here for a little while longer, I think that's great. I don't know how long you've been in town. It's not long. >> Few days now. >> Four days. Yeah. Three days. >> So, uh, >> we didn't come home last night. I mean, we didn't, you know. >> Well, you got to stick around long enough for the armor. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Now, you got to be definitely be here through the festival then. So, all right. Uh, Roy Shider. And I was thinking the exact same thing. I love that show with the helicopter Dear Wolf. That was great. Um, all right. So, the next day, the next day dawns, uh, it's cloudy like it always is. It's always cloudy in Bovia. Uh, but no rain and, uh, you know, everybody is, uh, you know, everything seems to be good. It hasn't it actually hasn't rained since the night you were in Durst House, so things rel are relatively dry the you know, the land and stuff. So, if you're going overland, that would be helpful. But Can we get Lucian on the way out or No. >> Uh, it's up to you. >> Well, because something tells me that's going to take a few days, too. >> What's that? >> Yeah. >> The black >> hitting Lucy and the blacksmith for >> for an AG weapon. >> Oh, yeah. >> Well, wait. Oh, we're just going to like trust this Lucian with everything to make >> Basha recommends it. >> Well, What what choice do we have? >> No, that's true. We got to trust We have to trust somebody. >> So, I do want to I do want to know how much volume of silver that you guys have on you. >> So, I have eight >> silver pieces. >> I have eight. >> I'm not sure what >> I got treasure that silver. >> We haven't found any silver cuz that doesn't >> No, we haven't found any silver. Yeah. So Gwen, you have eight eight SP, right? >> Yes. >> And then John, you have you have eight. >> I have eight 8 SP. >> Okay. Tensson, >> I have six. >> Okay. Uh Okay. Um CZ top >> have seven. I believe Iggy had like 140. Eric, how many how much silver do you have? Oh, he's not there. All right. Well, we'll get I'll I'll uh I'll also email Dan and find out how much silver he's at. That way, what I'll do is I'll figure out um how much silver you have um and what a a suitable alloy. >> How many ounces is a coin? >> I think they're just 1 oz coins. >> Yeah, >> the standard weight. So, 16 22 >> 16 ounces in a pound. >> Yeah. So you've got a pound3 right now of silver. >> You'd probably need about three for a >> Well, but it will be an alloy. >> Yeah, I say there's no way it can be pure silver. >> How come we're not using a metric system? >> Because it sucks. All right. Uh okay. So according to this historically the weight of a bastard storage typically re ranges between 2.4 and three oh I'm sorry between 2.4 4 lb and 7.7 lb >> depending on the >> Yeah, depending on the historical area. >> Really heavy. >> This what does it say? Cuz >> it's one bulk. I don't know if that converts to anything. >> Uh, okay. >> So, let me let me check this out. Um, >> all right. Okay. So, the average weight of swords from the 10th to 15th centuries was uh they're quite light actually. >> Yeah. >> They're not heavy. Uh >> no non-ceremonial sword would have been much over seven pounds. It was just wasn't usable. >> Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. >> All right. So, I would say so it says, >> go ahead. >> Uh according to these examples, >> uh an archangel steel bastard sword was 3.4 4 lb. Dark Sword Armory's knight bastard sword was 3.3. Uh German bastard swords was 4.7. Uh a laring bastard sword is much lighter. Uh Raven Forge Northern is uh uh also much lighter. So I'm thinking probably total weight around 3 lb of which 80% of that will probably need to be silver. So So 2.4 pounds. We'll see see what Let's see how much you have because we still have a couple right now. You got one pound 13. So yeah, I mean it's within depending on uh you know how much uh how much silver Eric Dan and Eric have. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> What did it say? >> It's silver foam though. >> It's silver foam. That's what you get when you use Google AI. Uh here here's a LAR sword. It weighs a half a pound. That's There you go. Um all right. So, uh, do you guys want to stop by Lucian's first or do you want to head out into the >> I think we ought to go talk to him. >> Eric, how much your character have on him? >> Um, none. >> I >> You had some silver. Did you give it to Jim already or No, >> silver coins from before from Galarion. >> He can't get no silver. He can't get no gold. >> Let me see. Let me see. What did you bring me, my dear friends, to keep me from the galler of pole? >> Yes, sir. >> Um, I don't see any silver here. I have, in fact, I have no money at all. >> Well, we all started with some money and you had to buy. >> Yeah, we all started with >> H. It would be under inventory. Uh, >> should Yeah. >> If if you have anything written down, you may not have anything written down. I have thieves a tool kit climbing kit a sling >> upper. >> Oh no, it just has copper, silver, gold, >> gold. >> Just under the word inventory in blue. >> I see it. And all of those CPS GP are zero. >> Okay. You never put in that then. >> I'm sorry. What should I have? >> Roll a D8. >> Less. I was going to say in a note that I wrote previously. >> Mhm. >> Um, we had a total of 27 silver possible to use. >> Um, I have one one silver piece. >> All right. >> So, that's two. So, that would be >> 2.7 pounds of silver. Wait, no. No, it wouldn't. >> 20 27 silver pieces would be at 27 ounces. 16 to. So yeah, it wouldn't quite be enough for a bastard sword. >> But it wouldn't be sure, would it? A bastard? >> No, it would be alloy, but I figured it would have to be at least to have it to have the desired effect on undead and werewolves. It would probably have to be uh it would probably have to be 80. My thought is it have to be 80% silver and then alloyed with something else. I'll give I'll give eight silver to that if that makes a difference. Trying to Oh yeah. >> Yeah. I got eight silver, right? >> So I'll I'll donate my eight. >> I think I think combined included 27. >> Oh, >> but I don't I don't I mean I'm guessing >> what's what's the math add up there? >> Seven. Seven. No, we we had if >> let's just wait till fireball. >> Gwen had seven. I had six and you had seven. That's more than 27 there. >> So 16 22. Yeah. 29. Eric's one and makes it 30. And then we don't even know what Dan has. So, >> yeah. >> Right. >> Uh, you could look real quick. >> Oh, Dan's got >> his character. >> He does. >> No, I'm just joking. >> Uh, I can pull up his character. Hold on. Let's see if it's listed in his uh Okay. Okay. >> Okay. So, I don't I don't know if it works. I'm gonna post I'll post this link. >> I don't know if it works. This >> I'm Mr. Plum. Your character is a war priest, right? >> What's that? >> Your character is a war priest with the bastard sword as favorite weapon. >> No, my character is a barbarian, >> but I have a secondary uh class. I have the archetype, the free archetype cleric, and I picked the Shellon is the deity I picked. Uh, she uses the glaive or that's her favorite weapon. But I don't >> sword for >> Huh? >> What are we buying this bastard for? >> Well, we're going to try to get one made for her. >> Yeah, I like the bastard sword because you can use it one hand or two hand. The glaive is nice because you have reach, but you have to use two hands. >> So, you can't >> Who's our Who's our other war priests or who's our war priest? >> That would be Zezy top. Oh yeah, >> that would be you. >> Yes. >> Okay. What's your favorite weapon? >> Mine is the orc neck spplitter. >> I see the blind man. >> According to Dan's character sheet, he does not have any silver pieces. He has 15 gold pieces. >> Okay. >> So, so I >> which means he didn't do math. He's probably got at least five because after So, everybody starts with 15 gold. He probably never updated his character sheet on what he bought. He's got at least five to eight gold. >> All right. If one of you guys wants to roll for him a D8 for him for silver pieces, I'll I'll take that. >> Gwen, go ahead and roll. >> Let's go, Gueno. >> Oh, you want me to roll? Okay. D8. Okay. >> Die eight. >> And you can always ask the answer seven. >> All right. So, that makes Oh, go ahead. Sorry. Go ahead. >> No, no. I put this link. This is for cold iron, but cold iron has like grades. So, you can have like low grade, standard grade, or high grade. I don't know if silver would work the same way. >> I think we're low level for cold iron at this point. Let's just go with silver. >> No, no. I We want silver. >> He didn't know if there was different grades of a silver weapon. >> Yeah, that's getting into it too much. Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. We're type a type A silver. It's in page 247 of the Advanced Pathfinder journal. I just made that up. >> Wow. >> So, according to according to this, you guys have 37 silver coins, which results into 2.3125 pounds of silver. >> So, I'll do a little math and I'll share with you guys this thing. We'll see about Well, let me do a little research. We then we'll talk about the the what what what can transpire with 2.3 pounds of silver weight too. >> Uh Vasha's little silver pendant might disappear or >> you could rob from the guy who helped you. That's terrible. >> I mean a Kudagawa he's his fingers just pick things up every now and then and you just never know. >> That's true. >> You know um Okay. All right. So, >> like Robin Hood, >> Robin Hood, Robin Hood, >> not not Kleptoe. Robin Hood is >> correct. Absolutely. >> All right. Uh, so did you guys want to stop by Lucians or do you guys want to hit out on the road? >> Well, we could stop by him and sort of drop off the >> Well, I mean, that gets us gets us a couple of days ahead if it works. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, are you going to put the silver in something? >> Yeah, that's what I Well, we either all carry our individual or we put it into something that we drop off, >> right? Do we need silver right now or do we need it later on? >> I have a sack. >> Actually have five sacks. >> Like, it's something that we need to hide. >> I'm not trying to not trying to metag game, but like I'm pretty sure we're not going to be facing any vampires at level two. >> No, no, no. I make no promises. >> Again, even if we have then there's less >> ourselves with that vampire dear wolves. >> Now le I'm I'm just looking on here and this is on on Google. It says a solid silver weapon would require approximately 1.2 to 1.8 kg, roughly 2.6 to four pounds of silver, assuming a s a similar volume to a steel sword. >> Okay. So, >> it's reasonable. Yeah, you could probably I think I think 2.3 is going to be enough to get you a sword. Now, it might not get you the also. >> It says weight in ounces. This translates to roughly >> normally to 58 troy ounces. >> Normally, it's a silver sword though. It's not. So, silver is a soft >> Yeah. Yeah. This is a silver alloy and >> it has to be an alloy. Yes. >> Okay. >> And it could be silver. Could be the silver over what? >> Well, yeah. I mean, you can >> like a silver plate. >> Well, no, you don't want to do that because uh you can edge it in silver and and Jim could probably be be more of that. But the problem is silver is relatively soft compared to >> steel, >> weapon steel. >> Oh, right. Right. >> So, yeah. What happens? So, it's good. We should probably get a blacksmith's opinion on this. So Jim, what happens if you if you clad a steel sword in silver and hit something with it? >> A lot of times it would probably be inlaid into the sword. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Etched and and and physically >> Yeah. Here it says a pure silver would be extremely soft and unsuitable for combat. >> Yeah. So it it would be the forging of an actual sword and probably inlaid with silver onto that >> crafting. Anybody got crafting besides me? >> I got crafting. >> Yeah, but crafting has to be in a specific thing. That's just not general. >> Yeah. >> What? >> Yeah. >> Well, we'll drop it off at the blacksmiths and let uh Les worry about >> Yeah, we'll talk to L I may send you some awkward emails over the course of the week, Jim. >> No problem. >> So, what h what would happen if this if it went like this? Um, all right. So, you go by if you you go by Lucian and you >> Go ahead. >> Oh, go ahead. >> No, go ahead, John. >> Okay. Does anybody have quick repair besides me? >> Quick repair? I do not. >> I don't Is that a spell? >> No, it's a skill. >> Um, or it's a feat, but you can repair things a lot like 10 times faster. like shields and swords and stuff. >> Oh, that's good. No, >> so we can think about that later. We don't do that right now. >> Yeah, I don't have that, but I do have a repair kit. >> Yes, so do I. >> Okay. >> I I repair my stuff by the cling on right of security. >> All right. >> Mine breaks. I'm taking yours. >> All right. All right. So you guys, so you guys go by Lucians and uh as you sort of step in there and this is a bigger blacksmith than Vladex. Um you see probably four or five different workmen uh at three different forges all sort of blacksmithing it up. Um if you you kind of go in there and everybody kind of looks at you and finally somebody comes walking over and says, "Hi, can I you know, can I help you?" >> Yeah, we're looking for Lucien. Lucian. Ah, I THINK HE'S WHERE'S LUCIEN? And somebody yells out, "Oh, HE'S OUT HE'S OUT BACK uh uh looking at looking after the coal thing. He'll be back in a minute." He says he's out back uh uh dealing with our coal scuttle uh thing. >> Is it okay to go back there? >> Oh, yeah. I suppose unless you want me Unless you want me to send somebody back there. I tell them what's Well, you guys are busy. We'll we'll take care of that ourselves. That way we can talk to him in private. All right. >> I mean, I don't tell him that. I'll just say flag. You can take care of that. That's >> gota uh All right. So, he uh uh so he's like, "All right, I'll get back to work." And he goes back to, you know, doing whatever they going out. You kind of you walk around the uh you know, the thing to sort of the back and the back is where, you know, they've got wood stacked. There's a big pile of coal. Uh you know, various kinds of supplies. There's uh you know uh a little pile of like ingots of some sort of like coppery metal looking metal that they got sort of stacked on a little a little pallet out there. Uh and you do see a tall gangly dark-haired man. Uh and he's got these he's got these big spouted coal scuttles and there's like four of them on the ground and he's got a big shovel and he's and he's knocking coal into them and they're mounted on this big rack so he can lift it all. He lift like four of them up at one time and carry it in like a milkmaids with the with the milk buckets. >> Wow. >> He's just kind of shoveling things back back there. Uh and you kind of see him. He not paying attention to you guys so it doesn't say anything to you. >> Do any of you guys have diplomacy skill? And if so, how high? >> Six for me. >> Okay, >> let me see. Uh mine is not great. >> Let's see. Um >> mine's at five. So, John, you probably should talk to him and um see what we can secure. I will start shoveling some of the the coal and coke into the into the buckets so John can speak with him and he doesn't get behind on his task. >> Well, okay. >> Be careful because I might recruit him to be an NPC tank for us. >> That's okay after he makes the sword. So, you get closer to him and you finally get his attention and you realize he's pretty physically daunting. Uh very I mean he's tall and and thin which is uh you know uh uh he's probably 6'4 6'5 and he looks relatively thin but it's that kind of thinness that you know is like they have muscles like wires right >> so if he'd be playing basketball with us he'd only be a guard with me. >> Right. Exactly. >> Is he does he have a scraggly beard wearing a tall hat? No, he's not. Uh with a really high voice. Uh I believe in freedom. Um >> no, he kind of like puts his shovel. He kind of like rests his shovel down. He's like, >> "What can I do for you?" >> Yeah. Le I smile at him and say, "Oh, the festival's coming. It'll be great." as I look down at him and pick up the shovel and start shoveling in the sk uh the the coal and the coke and let talk to him. Vasha sent us over. >> Oh, Vasha. He kind of looks around back at the thing. The door of the the door to the forge area is closed, but he's like, "We shouldn't talk here. Come with me." Uh, and he leads you back. There's like a little shed back there and he opens the door up and uh that kind of stuff. You keep shoveling. >> Yep. >> Okay. So, you're still filling those scuttles. Uh, so he turns he kind of go leads you guys into the shed. He's like, "Uh, Vasha told me that uh you you were some there's some uh out oftowners that uh wish to speak to me about a about uh um crafting something uh something special." He uh he was quite uh he was quite what's the word I'm looking vague about what exactly you guys were wishing. So, um but he said that it was something that required discretion. So, we've got we've it's private here. No one will hear you. What What is it that you're looking for? Well, we have some materials here. We'd like to make you We'd like you to make us a bastard sword because you're highly recommended. And there's no one else who can do this. No, >> I can fashion I can fashion you a sword uh of that size. Um and he he uh he looks down at he looks down to Grillild. He was like, "The sword would be for you." Yes. >> Yes, >> indeed. I can I can fashion that. Um >> and we'll set the table and let him look into it. Okay. He he hears the clink of the coins when uh when you set the bag on the table and he he gets a curious look on his face and then reaches over and sort of pulls the cloth of the bag away. Just he's not going to like open the bag up. He just kind of pulls it away to sort of look inside. And you can see his eyes just go wide. At which point he then does looks in there uh fully looks into the bag. He's like, "What? Where have you what what where did you come by this?" He's like, "Who are you? Where did you come by all this? >> Nobody's better than you. We need your help. >> From another land. >> Leather land. It would almost have to be. I've never seen so much. I dare not say the word. I've never seen so much in one place. This is what you want your sword grafted of? >> He looks incredulous. Um, >> I have a diplomacy of seven. Uh, so I I'm I'm also to speak up. >> Oh, yeah. Fire it up. I'll step aside. Well, you know, hi. Hi. Um, Mr. Blacksmith. Uh, vast respect for your skill. Um, we have, um, >> the pretty lady likes pretty weapons. my girlfriend. She asked me uh to make her a silver blade. >> Don't say that word. >> Don't say that word. >> Yeah. When you the word silver comes out, he's like, "Oh, >> he's sick. Don't say the count if the counters of this, we'll all we'll all end up in the dungeons castle raid." say, "We're trying to >> uh level the playing field." >> We're trying to level the playing field. >> Indeed. He So, at first he seems fearful. He's like, he's shocked. He's like, "I've never seen so much silver in one place." Uh he doesn't say silver. He's like, "I've never seen so much of this in the same place." He goes, first he's like, "Where did you get this?" And then he's like, "No, I don't want to know where you got it." Um he goes, >> he seems incredulous. He's like, "You want me to make a sword out of this, >> Mr. blacksmith. >> Yes. >> Be bold. Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid. >> Figure eight on him. >> He kind of like he looks thoughtful. >> Good idea, John. >> And you can see he's kind of like the look on his face. It's like he's balancing the fearfulness of being caught with so much silver with the opportunity to do something as a blacksmith. Extraordinary. Um >> uh something that's that yeah that nobody he that he knows would ever have done. Go ahead. >> I'm going to reach into a bag. >> Okay. >> And pull out a stack of 10 gold coins and set them next to the other bag >> to try to scale in our favor. >> Oh man. All right. Roll a >> I'll let I'll let uh >> roll a diplomacy check. >> Hang on a second >> for Eric. >> Yes, sir. I I Jim's aiding Eric on this one. >> Sweet. >> Yeah, actually I'll use my uh uh heroes uh hero point. Me, too. Point. Thank you. >> All right. Well, >> guidance. >> Uh yeah, you could you could do guidance. >> I have the guidance. >> Okay. >> If that doesn't work, I'll go and bite his leg off. >> All right. So, we got we got a hero point in play. We've got guidance in play. Uh, then Velcro, you're going to cast aid. >> No, no, no. So, aid is a is an action now. >> Oh, okay. Okay. >> It's It's got You used to be called like something else in 5e, but >> I don't I don't even know how it works in in Pathfinder, but >> hold on. I'm checking. >> They get a circumstance bonus. >> Aid is an action. Ally is about to use an action that requires a skill check or an attack roll. He's willing to accept your aid. How does this work? It's a it's a one action thing. Uh when you use your aid action, attempt a skill or attack roll. Uh decided by the BM, the DC's 15. Okay. So, um uh All right. Yeah. So, give me All right. So, give me a diplomacy role to do your aid roll >> for aid. That's for That's for John. >> That's for John. >> Okay. >> No, I think it's for Jim because he put the gold down. Or I can do it. I don't I don't care. I a diplomacy roll. So, >> all right, here we go. >> Diplomacy roll is 25. >> All right, 18. Okay, so you got aid. So, that's it's not a critical success. You get plus one to that. That's 25. Guidance is a plus one status bonus. That's 27. And you have a hero point if you want to roll it. You got a 27. Now, do you want to roll it? Do you have to take the hero point and that reroll or or is it the best of? >> Best of use hero point. Yeah, >> I will use the hero point and I roll 15. >> All right, so 27 total. All right, there's a long silence. You explain to him this is what we want. And then uh slowly tens and stacks uh are these are these um >> I can use gold coins. >> I can use the Bovian gold coins. Sure. >> All right. All right. So, do you want uh So, you use the Bovian Bovian. >> See you night. See you, man. >> Night, man. >> Thank you. >> Good to see you, buddy. >> Yeah. I use a foreign one for him. So, he >> All right. So, you tack 10 gold Bovian gold coins on the table next to the thing. Uh, and there's a long silence as he looks at those. He reaches up, rubs his sort of scraggled beard. He doesn't have a full beard, but it's like he hasn't shaved for a couple of days. Uh there's like a little bit of uh soot in, you know, on his face and he looks at that. He's like, "All right." He looks at you over and he goes, "All right, I'll do it." >> He says, "It'll take me some time. I'm going to have to do it surreptitiously. I don't I don't know when I'll be done. >> Several it could be several days. Certainly after >> I'm going to try and do as much of it as I can during the festival >> so that because because everybody will be you know a lot of people will be out because I have to be doing it in secret >> and he he slowly so he reaches over and he scoops the scoops the gold off into his hand and slips it into his into his belt pouch. Uh and then he takes up the bag and he's like I'll have to hide this. Um but uh come see me again in uh near the end of the festival. I shall. We shall. >> All right. He takes back. You see him when he comes out of the shed with the sack. He go He doesn't go back to the forge. He goes in a different direction entirely off into town. Uh and he's got the sack. He takes the sack. He kind of stuffs it into his uh he's got like a leather apron on it. So he sort of stuffs it behind it to muffle the clinking of the coins. Uh he doesn't want to be walking through there like he's got, you know, with like like with like a bank bag in his hand. Um you know, that says bug me. Um uh but yeah, it sounds like he'll do it. >> Perfect. >> Okay. >> And at that it is now 5 minutes after 11. We've gone over time. So next time we're scheduled to play is One moment, please. >> Three weeks. >> Uh Curse of Strod is in three weeks. Yeah. Next week is B team on the 8th. Uh and then I will be gone in uh in Kentucky on the 15th and then our next game will be on the 22nd. >> What you doing in Kentucky? Uh it is Jonas's last conference swim meet. I'm going to be off I'm practically going to be in Kentucky like for like four days >> uh for for that. And I'm also going to take uh I'm going to take the opportunity to reload my whiskey shelf >> uh while we're down there. So we're uh we're going to be in Danville. So there's a great distillery in Danville called the Wilderness Trail Distillery. Uh so we'll be going there. Um, I went there last year and it they had they they were fantastic and so I'm going to go get a couple more bottles of that and then um it's about an hour and 15 minute drive to uh Buffalo Trace Distillery. So there's a website. So Buffalo Tra I don't know if you guys have ever been there, but if you go to Buffalo Trace Distillery, they don't sell all their products at the same time in the gift shop. They rotate them. So you can't come in and like scoop up all the bottles of something. Uh they have limits to what you can buy. So, but they have a website or somebody has a website. I don't think it's even associated with the distillery. It might be, but that let you know what whisies they're selling that day. Uh, so you can plan your visit. So, I we may go down there as many as twice or three times to get uh a variety of of uh whisies. Plus, also even the crappiest strip mall liquor store in Danville, Kentucky has bottles of bottles of bourbon that are simply unavailable in St. Louis. They just got them sitting out on the rack. So, we're going to do that, too. We went to We went to one liquor store called Galaxy Liquors. It was in a strip mall uh next to a subway and uh I got like four or five bottles of whiskey there that you that you just simply can't get uh in in St. in the St. Louis region. So, I'm going to be loading up. >> Well, if you want to if you want to trade with them, take them some gooey buttercake and they'll probably trade you up for even bottles. >> Unavailable in your crappy state of Kentucky. >> All right, I got to roll, guys. Good night. >> All right. Me, too. Thanks you guys. I will see you in three weeks. >> Everyone, thank you. >> Bye. >> Night time. >> Yeah. See you, man.
