Greyhawk Pronunciation Guide | It's GRAY-hawk, dammit, not gra-YUH-HA-wook!

Notes on notation:

Short A is left alone; long A (as in "fate") is written "ay",so "fate" is "fayt"; A as in "fat" is written "@", so "fat" is "f@t".

Short E is left alone, while long E is written doubled. Thus "help" is left alone while "me" is written "mee".

The letter I is always soft. If it is long, it changes to Y. Thus "high" is written "hy".

O by itself is always long; soft O (as in "not" is actually a short A. The sound of O followed by R ("for") is represented by the numeral zero (0). OW always rhymes with "cow". The double-O is distinctive in itself ("moo").

The letter U is usually soft ("tub") but occasionally is replaced by OO (as in "tube" - toob)

The letter Y as a vowel is always long, as in "my". "Happy" becomes "h@ppee".

FInally, CAPital LETters show where the ACcents should go.
