-485 160 5290 1666 5031 3978   The beginning of "The Great War." Caliph HaranbenRamif sends an army into the Salhaut pass where nine thousand Bakluni are slaughtered. The Holy Prophetess Devrah of Istus forsees that the lands of the Seul will be washed "pure as the desert."           The beginning of "The Great War." Nine thousand Bakluni are slaughtered in the Salhaut Pass. Munid promises to destroy the Bakluni entirely, even if the majority of mages of his own house die in the process.
-466 179 5309 1685 5050 3997   Both Bakluni and Seuloise began to go east of the mountains, recruiting Humanoids as mercenaries in their battles for the first time.           Both Bakluni and Seuloise began to go east of the mountains, recruiting Humanoids as mercenaries in their battles for the first time.
-458 187 5317 1693 5058 4005         Heeding their prophets, many Oeridians began moving eastward, coming into contact and conflict with the Flanae. Heeding their prophets, many Oeridian families began moving eastward, coming into contact and conflict with the Flanae. Migrations of Oerid tribesmen. Elves close their Realms to humans. Heeding their prophets, many Oeridians began moving eastward, coming into contact and conflict with the Flanae.
-449 196 5326 1702 5067 4014   ArishbenAlif, a wandering prophet, warns of the destruction of the Baklun People. He is declared an outlaw by the High Priestess of Istus, Aphra. The Caliph NameshbinJamish orders the arrest of Arish, but he escapes.
-448 197 5327 1703 5068 4015               The Year of the Prophets. Seven different prophets foretell of the destruction of the Seul Empire within 30 years. The emperor has all seven drawn and quartered, even though one of the prophets is a High Priest of Beltar.
-447 198 5328 1704 5069 4016         ZellifaradZol, son of the emperor, mage/high priest of Beltar, breaks with his father and takes over 8,000 Seuloise loyal to himself, and flees the kingdom, eastward. The ferocity and magical might of the movement scatters the Oeridians in it's path, causing the remainder of the Oeridian to migrate, who in turn attack the beleaguered Flanae. The Zolites continue eastward. ZellifaradZol, son of the emperor, mage/high priest of Beltar, breaks with his father and takes over 8,000 Seuloise loyal to himself, and flees the kingdom, eastward. The ferocity and magical might of the movement scatters the Oeridians in it's path, causing the remainder of the Oeridian to migrate. One of the High Mages, Slerotin (called "the Last High Mage" by the rebellious Zolite Seul who settle in the south of the Flanaess, and the continent of Hepmon), causes a huge tunnel to be bored into the Crystalmists, through which the Zolite Seul flee. He then seals the tunnel closed at both ends, trapping one lesser branch of the family, the Lerara, inside. -446 199 5329 1705 5070 4017               The emperor sends commands that the Houses Schnai, Cruskii and Fruztii move bring his son, and the "Unloyal" back to face justice.
-445 200 5330 1706 5071 4018   Arish wanders the western edges of the Baklun realms and convinces a full six families of the oncoming disaster. They move east into the Northern parts of the Flanaess.     The Zolite scatter the Flanae before them, and move south to the Tilvanot Peninsula. The three pursuing houses, unable to find the magical tunnel, turn north, where they are met by regrouped Oeridians and fearful Flanae who harry and drive these Seul Houses south. The Zolite scatter the Flanae before them, and move south to the Tilvanot Peninsula. Zellifar carries with him two of the lesser Binders and the imprisoned Genie King. The three pursuing houses, unable to find the magical tunnel, turn north, where they are met by regrouped Oeridians and fearful Flanae who harry and drive these Seul Houses south. Many are lost and remain in the Amedio Jungle. They eventually move back east and march toward what is now the Rift Canyon.   The Zolite scatter the Flanae before them, and move south to the Tilvanot Peninsula. Zellifar carries with him two of the lesser Binders and the imprisoned Genie King. It is during this time (5080 SD) that Uhas of the Neheli and his followers split from the Zolites and slaughtered a group of Flan in the Suehenna Hills (Drachensgrabs) and were turned by an unnamed Flan power into The Twisted Forest. The three pursuing houses, unable to find the magical tunnel, turn north, where they are met by regrouped Oeridians and fearful Flanae who harry and drive these Seul Houses south. Many are lost and remain in the Amedio Jungle. They eventually move back east and march toward what is now the Rift Canyon
-430 215 5345 1721 5086 4033   Arish returns to the court and attempts to convince TalnabinNamesh to move eastward with the Baklun peoples. Arish is put to death by drowning
-425 220 5350 1726 5091 4038   The Baklun army begins advancing into the Northern Provinces of the Seul Empire. The Seuloise weakened by strife and the sending of the Houses of Pursuit, continually fall back before the Bakluni assault.
-424 221 5351 1727 5092 4039     The Invoked Devastation strikes the bakluns then extends to the mountains where the Great Dwur Clans are. Little time later, the Rain of Colorless Fire comes to complete the destroying work of this first (WoG, FtA). The majority of the splendid cities of the kingdom of BERREN are in pieces and the farduïn of the Clan is lost. The same for TRIMDAÏR and HOLGERETH. With shame in their heart, the dwurs of these clans from now on without name leave in mass towards more lenient places. Those of BERREN leave towards the remote West, those of TRIMDAÏR towards the South, and those of HOLGERETH towards the East where they settle with the feet of Lortmils (current Principauté of Ulek) (OJ2). The kingdom of YRDEN is swept and only two or three fortresses still count some survivors after The Twin Cataclysms. Goran does not exist anymore, Gringan of Yrden and its farduïn are untraceable. The clans of Yatils are almost untouched. The dwurs of DUMDERIM hide under ground beseeching the protection of Dumathoïn. A great number of their fortresses are destroyed however but the lives of a number of women and children are preserved. To escape the carnage, most of the dwurs from Durindan find refuge in the Sacred Enclosure of Azak Morad. Dvalin V, Great Dwur King of Mor Borad, disappears during the attack of Durindan as well as the Axe of the Lords (WoG, DM1). Its destiny remains still dubious but it is certainly terrible because only his farduïn immaculate of blood was found. In a matter of days, Mor-Borad is not any more. Led by one Pellipardus, sueloise settle in the current area of Ratik (OJ1). They are courteous and ensure the Dwurs that they want peace.
-423 222 5352 1728 5093 4040               The First Division occurs. One of Zellifar's minions, the High Priest Pellipardus, slips away from the Zolites and takes his minor family to the Ratik area, in the North. Pellipardus takes one of the Binders with him. Zellifar does not pursue, fearing that this will take his attention away from the Three Houses of Pursuit: the Schnai, the Fruztii, and the Cruskii
-422 223 5353 1729 5094 4041   The Seul mages gather their magical energies and cast the Invoked Devastation. No Bakluni cities survive this blast of magical energy. But Bakluni mages and clerics gathered at Tovag Baragu, using the arcane powers of the Binders, and drawing upon the energies of their holiest site, withstand these energies and counters with the Rain of Colorless Fire. The remains of this expenditure of energy are now called the Sea of Dust, and the Dry Steppes. The destruction of Bakluni Caliphate occurs. However, the family Yamir, and six families who moved east with Arish, remain.           Zellifar parleys with the Houses of Pursuit. His Arch Mage, Slerotin, unleashes a Mass Enfeeblement on their house mages, and a Mass Suggestion upon the other members of the Houses. Slerotin is blasted by magical energies upon the casting of these mighty spells, leaving the Rift Canyon as the only physical remains of this energy. The remnants of the Three Pursuing Houses (Schnai, Fruztii, Cruskii) are devastated and blasted by magic. Their mages minds are wiped of all magic, and the people are confused and terrified. In mass they flee, pell mell, northeastward, except one family. One small branch of the Schnai, the Hepmona, led by the priestess Jaguanara, moves south. They catch a lagging branch of Pellipardus' followers led by the two brothers, Lendore, a mighty mage, and Tilvan, a priestly follower of Tharizdun, and practitioner of the mental and physical disciplines, and drive them southward. This is called The Second Division. Tilvan takes his followers and hides in the Vast Swamp, and later moves south to establish a monastery on the peninsula which will later bear his name. Lendore takes his followers and moves to the largest island of the Spindrift chain and meets with the elves. By pact, they allow him and his family to remain on the island, so that he and his descendants should hold it "until the Elven realms have need of it." Jaguarana, and her followers continue madly, blindly, to the south, crossing the ocean in rough canoes to chase Lendore. She and her followers eventually find a large jungled land and take control of its northern reaches. In the Seul Empire proper, the Seul mages gather their magical energies and cast the Invoked Devastation. No Bakluni cities survive this blast of magical energy. But Bakluni clerics and mages gathered at Tovag Baragu, using the arcane powers of the Binders, and drawing upon the energies of their holiest site, withstand these energies and counterstruck with the Rain of Colorless Fire. The remains of this expenditure of energy are now called the Sea of Dust, and the Dry Steppes.
-419 226 5356 1732 5097 4044     Advance of the Three Houses of Pursuit (OJ1). Conflicts with the dwurs occur with the first contacts.         Zellifar enters the Griff Mountains alone. None know where he goes or what he does there.
-417 228 5358 1734 5099 4046               The Three Houses of Pursuit move into the Thillonrian Peninsula. They remember and turn to powers which were basic and strong, Kord and Llerg, forgetting others in the face of the strong magics of Slerotin. Wizardly magic is almost entirely forgotten, all magic is feared and only priests, and skalds used it without fear. Witches are not uncommon, but are forced away from "normal" men. The skalds and priests develop a runic alphabet that carry mystic powers.
-416 229 5359 1735 5100 4047               Zellifar, last scion of emperors, teleports from the Griff Mountains back to the remains of the Seuloise Empire. He is destroyed by the lingering magics and final throws of conflict in the area. Thus ends the Seuloise Empire, mightiest and longest lived of Empires on Oerth, and it's reckoning (although the Scarlet Brotherhood still uses it to keep records). The crowning of the first Overking of Rauxes, and the establishment of the Aerdian Empire, will not occur for another 416 years. Nature: The Seuloise Empire is vastly different things at different times. Compared to it, the Roman Empire was a short lived thing and the Chinese dynasties were only half as old. In it's early stages, it was comprised of wandering related tribes who developed city states. These city states were similar technologically to the Mesopotamian states on Earth. Then, with the arrival of elves they became more like the Greek polis. And then developed into an empire which structurally was like the Senate driven Rome, and finally into aristocratic families and princes among which the Imperial rule passed. The Romanesque flavor of the Empire, was modified by the influence of the haughty grey elves. The elves introduced the magic which drove the quest for power and magic which dominated the whole of the Seul history. This additional element gives the Seuloise an almost Melibonian oddness. A sense of haughtiness, of right to power, and of non-;concern for others that is still not found in any other culture on Oerth. Even the structured Gray Elves had a sense of wisdom and compassion that was totally foreign to the thoughts of many of the Seuloise rulers. The modern Seul (except those living beneath the Sea of Dust, those trapped beneath the Crystalmist, those in the Scarlet Brotherhood and perhaps those who fled west across the Vast Ocean) have lost this haughtiness. It is instead it is replaced by a bravura, and a wildness which is equally dangerous when roused. The savages of the Amedio, of Hepmonaland, and the Barbarians in the Northeastern Flanaess exemplify of this.
-411 234 5364 1740 5105 4052     First contact of the oeridians with the dwurs of the Gull Cliffs. They speak about peace and an alliance is established between the two sides.
-406 239 5369 1745 5110 4057   Four of the six Baklun Families of the East elect to return to their homelands. The Ketti stop just east of the Tusman Hills, the other families, Tusmii, Zeifa, and Ekberri continue into back to traditional Bakluni lands. The two families which remain in the North of the Flanaess, become estranged from the families in the West. Because of the barren state of the Dry Steppes, Geshtai becomes almost as important a power as Istus. Xan Yae and Zuoken also retain their worshippers. The seeds of the modern Bakluni states are sown.
-398 247 5377 1753 5118 4065     Oeridians and dwurs fight together to defend the Gull Cliffs against flan plunderers.
-395 250 5380 1756 5121 4068       Baron Lum establishes the first Oeridian Kingdom in the Flanaess. He, aided by his very able general/priest Leuk-O, uses two very powerful items to defeat all who oppose him.   Baron Lum establishes the first Oeridian kingdom in the Flanaess. He, aided by his very able general LeukO, uses two very powerful items to defeat all who oppose him.
-388 257 5387 1763 5128 4075       Baron Lum defeats a large Flanae force and departs to the south-east with Hextor's followers among the Oeridians. For a short time he is acknowledged as high warlord of the Oeridians.
-387 258 5388 1764 5129 4076     A coalition of the dwur clans of the Corusks inflicts one of the more terrible defeats of their history to the Sueloise. Since then, the sueloise hold the 'Shinuis' (short ones), their valiancy and their bravery in high esteem.
-386 259 5389 1765 5130 4077     70th and ultimate Council of the Great Clans Chiefs, only two Chiefs of Great Clans are present (other Clans having sent only representatives), Tremek of Markkadin with the farduïn of his clan but without the Axe of the Dwur Lords and Gurden of Dumderim also with its farduïn. After long prayers and endless consultings, the dissolution of the Empire is decided. It will not be reconstituted as long as the Axe will not be found and the farduïns gathered again. The memory of Durin, The King of Kings, becomes increasingly sharp and dear in the heart of the dwurs. The Legend spreads that only him will be able one day to again join together the Axe and the farduïns, thus reinstalling the Empire such as it should never have ceased being (MBD). It is the beginning of the Age of the Humans.
-381 264 5394 1770 5135 4082       Last records of the Warlord Lum are made in this year. He disappears and is considered dead from this point on. Leuk-O, high priest of Hextor becomes warlord.
-380 265 5395 1771 5136 4083       Several tribes: the Pictaves, Kalgonites, Diembres and Aeredi refuse to yield to orders of Leuk-O. War among the Oeridians begins.
-378 267 5397 1773 5138 4085     A particularly warlike oeridian tribe, the Greftamals, attacks Mirkidan for its ores. The resistance of the dwurs is so savage that the attackers are destroyed until the last one. Following this memorable battle, Mirkidan is renamed Irongate.
-374 271 5401 1777 5142 4089       In the battle of keep Garwad (today's southern Furyondy) Diembre followers of Heironeous, helped extensively by Aeredi mages succeed in destroying the army of Leuk-O and forcing him to use spells to disappear from the battlefield. It is commonly held opinion that something had gone wrong or that his god was displeased by his performance on the battlefield, for he has not been seen since.
-360 285 5415 1791 5156 4103       Kalgonites and a lot of smaller Oerdian tribes divide from the main stream of migration and go south-west to the territory known today as the Ulek-Keoland-Yeomanry states which have been emptied of the majority of their Flanae inhabitants by the exploits of Lum the Mad and Leuk-O.
-359 286 5416 1792 5157 4104     Tremek of Markkadin, Gurden of Dumderim and Fringer II of Yrden make the wise decision to give their freedom and their autonomy to all their son-clans provided that those confirm their allegiance towards Azak-Morad, Tomb of Durin. Paradoxically, this decision creates an incredible nationalist dash in the dwur community.
-352 293 5423 1799 5164 4111       Kalgonite chieftain Tuerny the Merciless establishes his Oeridian realm in the Flanaess (today's northern Keoland) he crowns himself as a king.   Tuerny the Merciless establishes his Oeridian realm in the Flanaess.
-350 295 5425 1801 5166 4113       The Aeredi perfect the art of magic, becoming the most accomplished sorcerers of all the Oeridians. Highly tribalistic criteria in selecting students will lead to concentrating vast magical power within that tribe.
-346 299 5429 1805 5170 4117       Certain powerful Aeredi wizards establish a conclave on the abandoned Vecnian strongholds of the Isles of Woe in the Nyr Dyv
-344 301 5431 1807 5172 4119       The first recorded appearance of Baba Yaga's Hut   The first recorded appearance of Baba Yaga's Hut.
-330 315 5445 1821 5186 4133       The Isles of Woe, a small Aerdian enclave ruled by Wizard Priests (led by Yagrax), sinks into the Nyr Dyv; a hard blow is dealt to Aeredi magic and prestige, but many books and scrolls were saved through magical and mundane means.   The Isles of Woe, a small Aerdian enclave ruled by Wizard Priests (led by Yagrax), sink into the Nyr Dyv.
-315 330 5460 1836 5201 4148           The City of Jurnre is built.
-311 334 5464 1840 5205 4152       Majority of the Diembres, having no need for the help of a war god for the last sixty years switches their faith to that of the more organised and aggressive priesthood of Pholtus. Even some Aerdi accept that deity
-302 343 5473 1849 5214 4161     The dwurs of the West create the Independent League of the Dwur Merchants, an cohalition of the various clans which authorizes taxfree trade without them (MBD). The creation of the League is of importance because it had two major effects: first of all for humans of the mountain holds. Additionally. It made it clear for human and other curious that the dwurs do not see with a good eye that one cares of their business.
-285 360 5490 1866 5231 4178       Oeridians in great numbers start populating the eastern part of the continent. Except for occasional clashes with the Flanae their conquest is left unchallenged because great human-elf wars have vastly depopulated the area. The elves retreat to protect their remaining cities.
-280 365 5495 1871 5236 4183       First permanent settlements in what is going to be Nyrond. Diembres and Aeredi are the two major tribes to populate the eastern part of the continent. That is due to the ambitious and inquisitive nature of both of those tribes. In the empty, fertile land both of those tribes enlarge and prosper.
-244 401 5531 1907 5272 4219       Establishment of Rel Deven, the first walled city built by the Oeridians. It was created by the Aeredi first as a citadel for one of their wizard conclaves and later as a trading post and eventually a stronghold and military base. Aeredi influence in the east enlarges considerably due to the existence of the city.
-230 415 5545 1921 5286 4233       Several other cities have been created by this year following the pattern of Rel Deven (high walls and narrow streets.) The most impressive are: Rel Mord in the west, Rel Astra on the far east and Rauxes, which is designed to be the major city for controlling all movement through what is known then as the "central Aeredi lands". Many Diembres are assimilated into the Aerdi population of the cities and bring their dialect and their Pholtus worship. In the north-west this assimilation occurs to a lesser extent.
-217 428 5558 1934 5299 4246 Founding of the Kingdom of Aerdy.     Founding of the Kingdom of Aerdy. For the next 100 years Aerdy absorbs other Oeridian states to the west . Its capital is elected Rauxes mainly because "the Order" wants to keep powerful noblemen from seizing power over their conclave in Rel Deven.   Founding of the Kingdom of Aerdy. For the next 100 years Aerdy absorbs other Oeridian states to the west.
-213 432 5562 1938 5303 4250       Geimel Cranden, from a minor noble family of Aerdy becomes head of the "Order". He rediscovers many old Flanae and even elven spells and becomes one of most powerful archmages of his time. He will be the first head of the "Order" ever to hand his title to descendants based on familial relationship.
-211 434 5564 1940 5305 4252     Dwur refugees from Holgereth found Balnorhak (hex M4-107) in the lowest parts of Lortmils, north of the current Principality of Ulek (OJ2).
-209 436 5566 1942 5307 4254       Church of Pholtus established as the major faith of Aerdy; a magnificent temple to the sun-god is built in Rauxes.
-201 444 5574 1950 5315 4262     Another clan from Holgereth founds the large fortress of Gilmorack (hex Y4-101), in the northern Lortmils (OJ2).
-198 447 5577 1953 5318 4265       Having recovered from their defeats, the Flanae tribes start organising to regain their land. They capture a few small, unfortified towns and cities in today's eastern Nyrond.
-195 450 5580 1956 5321 4268       After initial succeses, the Flanae fall into bitter internal strife between war leaders and Ur-Flanae sages over leadership. Aerdy starts to recover from the initial shock.
-193 452 5582 1958 5323 4270       After one part of their army is defeated but not destroyed by Aerdy, the Ur-Flanae assume the leadership of the Flanae tribes. Bitter war begins with changing war fortunes but being mostly in the Flanae's favour mainly because of their great numbers and ferocity.
-185 460 5590 1966 5331 4278       Until this year almost all of today's North Province and most of eastern Nyrond is controlled by the Flanae. Many more come from the northern lands to join the fight against the conquerors.
-182 463 5593 1969 5334 4281       Geimel Cranden dies and his nephew and successor Ferlaand Cranden becomes head of the "Order" despite being fairly young for the position (43).
-175 470 5600 1976 5341 4288       Vecnian cultists among the Ur-Flanae attain positions of power.
-160 485 5615 1991 5356 4303       A cautious peace begins as Aerdy tries to consolidate its forces and to find a competent King to lead the army against the onslaught. The Flanae use this time to start negotiating an alliance with the Suel barbarians and other northerners. Their wizards desperately seek for the hand and eye of Vecna.
-135 510 5640 2016 5381 4328       War begins again with increased intensity; even Rel Deven is besieged for two months. Winter and the mages' skill have succeeded in breaking the siege even though a relief force is caught and routed while trying to pass through the northern edges of the Adri forest in the "Battle of Sleeping Trees".
-133 512 5642 2018 5383 4330       Paranoid mages of the "Order" begin the construction of Permanence castle on the site of an ancient shrine of Boccob, in order to protect copies of their most valuable texts in case of the fall of Rel Deven.
-120 525 5655 2031 5396 4343       Flanae conquests reach their peak as they pillage and raid both Rel Mord and Rauxes. The last large temple of Heironeous is destroyed. Many Aeredi turn to the worship of Hextor, looking for help against the barbarians. The King takes refuge in Rel Astra, which for a time becomes the capital.
-118 527 5657 2033 5398 4345       Magical disortion occurs at Permanence castle as magic runs wild and some mages of the Conclave die attempting to stop it. Permanence is abandoned for a time.
-117 528 5658 2034 5399 4346       The King halfhartedly accepts the offer of Hextorite priests for help in rallying the armies in return for recognition as a second state faith.
-115 530 5660 2036 5401 4348       In these years the mages of the Order discover the first hints of the Cauldron of Night and begin an extensive search for its location and properties.
-113 532 5662 2038 5403 4350 "The Great Disembarkment"; the AquaOeridians sail eastward.
-112 533 5663 2039 5404 4351       Finally, deciding to fight their old enemies in spite of their mistrust for allying with any humans, elves set forth in battle from their hidden cities in southern and central Aerdy. No help comes from the lost cities of the north. The Treaty of Rel Astra is made between Fiel, lord of the City of Eternal Dawn in the Grandwood, oldest of all the elven cities of Aerdi, and exiled king Kalzabad of Rauxes.
-110 535 5665 2041 5406 4353 Battle of a Fortnight's length.     Battle of a Fortnight's Length. Probably the decisive battle in Oerth's history. The host of Aerdy and their elven allies face the Barbarian alliance of north: the Flanae with their wizards and a vast number of various Suloise tribes. It is fought on the shortest day and longest night of that year and helpful to the Aeredi because of the advantage that their elven allies have, but also a hindrance to them severely for the dark and necromantic magic of the Ur-Flanae is enhanced. Finally, just before dawn, the Elves break the barbarian lines and engage in a savage onslaught of the Ur-Flanae. Not until Fiel is killed do they stop, and by then more than seven thousand Ur-Flanae lie dead on the field. Never again they will be able to raise war and they will continue to threaten elves and men only through the machinations and manipulations of others. After their lord's death the elves return to their cities demanding to be left alone for good. The place of this battle cannot be exactly pointed to, but Nyrond, Almor and Cranden lands all claim that it occurred within their borders. However, the surest bet would be the vast unoccupied area between today's Bone March and Nyrond.   Battle of a Fortnight's Length.
-108 537 5667 2043 5408 4355       Beginning of the age of great expansion. Over the next hundred years the Aerdi will conquer a good two thirds of the Flanaess.
-105 540 5670 2046 5411 4358       Hurven Cranden is the first mage to discover the Cauldron of Night. He dies at it's site, being unable to control the strong magical flux caused by his own spells on that highly sensitive site.
-104 541 5671 2047 5412 4359       The rebuilding of Rauxes commences. In the same year a division occurs within the "Order" as the Crandens are trying to place their family members in all important positions in it. The majority of the other wizards resign and form several separate schools, leaving however most of the library in Rel Deven itself in Cranden Hands.
-103 542 5672 2048 5413 4360       King Kalzabad dies and is succeeded by Kelebran II who is a long time soldier and warlord of the armies in the war against the Flanae. He reforms the army so that the warlord's position ceases to be inheritable and assumes the right to appoint warlords. He divides the army into the "Royal Guard", "Western campaign army" and "Southern campaign army" with the purpose of reconquering all Oeridian lands.
-102 543 5673 2049 5414 4361       Aerdi reconquers today's Nyrond and turns further west. Against them stand other Oeridian Kingdoms and strong remains of the Suel people along with migrating and barbaric Flanae.
-101 544 5674 2050 5415 4362       "Order of Wizards" effectively ceases to exist. The Cranden family however, remain the most respected mages of the Kingdom.
-99 546 5676 2052 5417 4364       Azharadian, later to be known as "the Great" is appointed warlord of the "western campaign" by the King in Rel Astra. He will be the most successful military leader ever to be recorded in Oerth's annals of war. His exploits will lead him from Nyrond all the way to eastern Perrenland. In the over 40 years that he will lead the Aerdi armies he will not lose or withdraw from a major battle.
-97 548 5678 2054 5419 4366       Aerdi mages forge the first great magical blade: the famous sword "Kalvang"
-94 551 5681 2057 5422 4369       Reestablishment of Rel Mord as the seat of power for house Nyrond.
-93 552 5682 2058 5423 4370       Azharadian defeats the Suloise and their Oeridian allies in the battle for the Duntide river. Aerdy conquers most of the eastern Nyr Dyv.
-91 554 5684 2060 5425 4372       The people of today's Furyondy ally together against Azharadian. They ask for help from the elves of Celene and the dwarves of the Lortmils but only later send a token force.
-89 556 5686 2062 5427 4374       Azhardian defeats the Furyondians in the battle of port Dyvers. Half of the defeated host and King (Suel/Oerdian halfbreed) fly north.
-87 558 5688 2064 5429 4376       Azhardian lays siege to the ancient Flanae city of Hardby.
-86 559 5689 2065 5430 4377       After almost a year of exhausting siege Hardby surrenders to the general, but is granted a degree of self rule.
-84 561 5691 2067 5432 4379       While his southern army conquers the Pomarj and today's Ulek lands, Azhardian turns northwards and in a series of consecutive victories conquers the rest of Ferrond (Furyondy) and Voll (Veluna). The King in Rel Astra establishes the Viceroyalty of Ferrond.
-80 565 5695 2071 5436 4383       Azhardian finally completes the circle around the Nyr Dyv. He defeats the last remains of the Flanae/Suloise alliance in a naval battle for Admundfort. In this year he joins his forces in northern Urnst.
-78 567 5697 2073 5438 4385       Harsh weather, the bareness of the land and constant orc raids prove to the general that it would be unwise continuing north. He turns east again and begins conquering today's Theocracy of the Pale.
-76 569 5699 2075 5440 4387       Azhardian finishes his eastern conquest, banishing an enormous number of Flanae people over the river Artonsamay. He then returns to Rel Astra to receive his honours and hold a triumph as a conqueror of most of the world. In 23 years, his exploits have tripled the size of the empire
-73 572 5702 2078 5443 4390       Azhardian embarks on a "southern campaign" where he fights to claim all of today's South Province and a large part of Sunndi. Again, bad swampy terrain forces him to return with only half of his job finished.
-67 578 5708 2084 5449 4396     The foundation of Yeomanry (WoG, FtA). A very strong friendship grows quickly between the humans of the plains and the dwurs of Markkadin. This friendship explains partly why the Yeomanry is so well defended. The already aging general is sent to resume the "western campaign" and to bring Aerdy's borders to the "last sea".   Tzunk the Archmage disappears.
-65 580 5710 2086 5451 4398       After destroying several minor rebellions on his way back Azhardian begins the campaign to conquer Perrenland. To avoid conflict with the elves and fighting in unfavourable terain, he avoids the Vesve and goes on a long and slow conquest of the easily defensible Velverdyva valley.
-63 582 5712 2088 5453 4400       Perhaps the most brilliant of all battles of Azherdian's wars is the battle of the Velverdyva canyon where he uses the almost impossible terrain to fool his opponents into attacking him instead of defending their well fortified positions. He gains a great victory and secures passage through the canyon.
-62 583 5713 2089 5454 4401       The general reaches Lake Quag. He is sure that it must be very near the "last sea" or the ocean on the west but has to turn back to destroy a rebellion in Voll.
-61 584 5714 2090 5455 4402       Verweln Cranden, cooperating with mages from Rel Astra and Rauxes, whose names are lost, finally succeeds in controlling to a certain extent the stuff of the Cauldron of Night. Liquid or "living" steel is used for the first time to transport it.
-60 585 5715 2091 5456 4403       Although victorious again, the general is stricken with a powerful asthmatic attack and shipped by sea back to Rel Astra. He has been sick of this disease for some time already and some say that he acquired it while fighting in the swamps of Sunndi, others that it is hereditary and that he had it ever since childhood. In the same year the Dukedom of Voll is established.
-59 586 5716 2092 5457 4404       Sea air, on the way back home, helps the general to recover and after a brief visit to his family and friends in Rel Astra, he rejoins his army in the south in a winter campaign against the Onnwal tribes on the peninsula of the same name. Harsh winter rains in that part of the world destroy the general's health utterly and he falls a victim to disease again. He dies of flu on his way back to Rel Astra but not before he has ensured that Onnwal has become a part of the Great Kingdom of Aerdy. Thus ends the glorious and long career of a man who has played perhaps the single most important part in Aerdy history. Armies that he has led and created will continue to be invincible, except for a few minor exemptions over the next several centuries. His legacy of over twenty major and hundreds of minor battles have become the example for generations of Aerdy military leaders. His dream of an empire from sea to sea has remained unfullfilled and seems it never will be. However, his exploits have for the first time made the people of the Flanaess aware of each other and the results of his campaigns are geographical maps so accurate and well made that some of them are used even today.
-57 588 5718 2094 5459 4406       King Kalzabad III dies in the hunt. His two daughters marry noblemen from houses Torquen and Garasteth. Nobles of most houses elect Garled Torquan for a King . This begins the period of elective Kings which have little power over certain noblemen, and none over the mages of Rel Deven. In the conquered provinces, army commanders still remaining from Azharadian's times keep the empire from disintegrating through civil war.
-54 591 5721 2097 5462 4409       The rebuilding of Rauxes is finished; it's walls being almost impregnable to outside attack. The capital is not moved back however, for several noble families contest over the Kingship.
-53 592 5722 2098 5463 4410       An assassin war begins between the houses of Torquen and Garasteth for the Kingship of Aerdi. A series of elected Kings and elector nobles are killed by opposing sides over the next half century. Neither of the families dares try to call upon the vast provincial armies to fight for their cause because nobody is certain on which side lay the alliegances of Seimel Besequr, great warlord of the "western campaign" elected by Azharadian himself.
-38 607 5737 2113 5478 4425       Cranden mages begin extensive underground work connecting Rel Deven with the Cauldron of Night.
-7 638 5768 2144 5509 4456     Discovery of the Bloody Obelisk of the Aerdy under the Gull Cliffs (FtA). Fanatics of Hextor gather armies "to return this unholy relic to its right admirers and to prevent laymen to soil it ". Seimel Besequr begins negotiations with the mages of Rel Deven about ways to stop the assassin war.
-5 640 5770 2146 5511 4458       Council of Rel Deven ends the assassin war as all Houses agree to pass an electorate to the Council of the Wise composed of major mages and priests of the kingdom.
-4 641 5771 2147 5512 4459       Council of Rel Deven ends with the election of Narson Cranden as Overking of all Aerdy with far greater power than Kings have had before him. His coronation however, is postponed for five years during which time the council of electors is to assure that the King will have absolute support from all the houses. Rauxes is again elected capital.
-3 642 5772 2148 5513 4460       Royal fostering is established as a custom.
-1 644 5774 2150 5515 4462       Celever Cranden, archmage of Rel Deven, with help from numerous mages and priests of the council of electors creates the Malachite Throne and places it in the palace in Rauxes as a seat for the new King . In the same year the council dissolves itself and reestablishes the rule of primogeniture in ascending to the position of Overking.
0 645 5775 2151 5516 4463           Crowning of Overking in Rauxes. The Oeridian Reckoning Calendar (OR) is replaced by the Common Year Calendar (CY) throughout the Flanaess.
